Sorenstam Showing She Still Has Fight
Lorena Ochoa has, rightly, dominated the headlines in women's golf in 2008. But who's that over there in corner, waving, saying, "yoo-hoo, don't forget about me"? Why, it's Annika Sorenstam . via About Golf

Go Annika....71 wins WOW, show them all what you really have. Your injury may have put you down, but your spirit will put you at number one again in time. Good luck soon with number 72..........

Good job Annika....you are still the #1 golfer in my book. I know that you will beat the record of every golfer ahead of you!! You have the purest swing that I have ever seen. I coached high school golf for 20 years and have seen alot of them. Keep up the good work!

I do respect Annika a lot for her talent and what she has done for the LPGA. But realistically she will not regain the #1 spot as long as Lorena is still on the tour. She won this week because Lorena gave her and the rest of the tour a break.

I agree, especially with the lead Lorena has over Annika. Now, Annika has said that she is going to get married in 2009 and wants kids. That is a lot to have on someone's plate and still try to become number #1 again. Annika will go down as the best ever LPGA player there is and was. Lorena will stay number one for many years but will not break too many(if any) of Annikas records because she has stated she will only play for ten years or so. Not enough time to set her own records since the ten years will be up in 8 years. Then again, Lorena's ten years playing to enter the Hall of Fame is up in 2012 or 2014, don't remember so maybe she will only play 4 or 6 more years. |
I do respect Lorena. She is great. Realistically do you really think she can win every time she plays?? I don't think so!!! Plenty of room for the great lady golfers on the LPGA. |

I agree with Bobby Smith. Lorena said it herself"I can beat anyone I play, but I am beatable too" now this girl has some wisdom. Paula beat her this past Sunday. Did Paula win because Annika was not playing. I don't think so. Do you get the idea Lorena. |

Go Annika on win number 72 this past Sunday. I think you answered your crtics with great game play. You played like you were giving a golf clinic!! Looking forward on seeing your 73rd win. I heard Lorena let you beat her by 12 strokes.......... |

Kudos to Annika for her 72 win! She is a classy person and classy player. She showed she is a true professional when she gutted out in one recent tournament when she was very sick.
The rivaly between Lorena vs Annika (even thought they are friends)will be great. What a great season! I still think it will be difficult for her to regain the No. 1 spot. |

Especially since she just announced her retirement at the end of this year. |
