The late George Carlin once remarked that "golfing is an arrogant sport." I tend to agree with Carlin that the "activity" seems to attract fans, comprised mostly of the idle, indolent and those who aspire to display a smugness of economic success, real or imagined. Yet, how can anyone criticize the sport today, when you got a gal like Wie proudly waving our red, white and blue? No, not today. No can. Maybe tomorrow. There's always tomorrow.

Only 1 comment so far but I expect more. These naysayers will be ragging Wie and will find something about her to comment negative remarks. I'm proud of this youngster from Hawaii no matter how she fairs in competition. Yes she has not won a tournament put has consistenly been in the money this past year to the tune of $600,000 dollars. She must get ready for her sophmore year at Standford another achievment for a Hawaii born girl. I wish her luck in the future on the golf course and in her studies and Hawaii is proud to have such a fine young girl that was born and raised in Hawaii. Go Michele.

And "they" said she didn't belong on the team. HA She went 3-0-1. The best record on the team. I hope this gives her the confidence she needs. Go Girl.

Good for Wie... What was different? She showed a humility and gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the "Team", and finally realized, being part of the domestic core- LPGA group is a privelege not a right guaranteed her... For years, the hubris and arrogance that came from Team Wie, be it the parents, agents, sponsors or the passive aggressive teen she "Was", made her hard to like despite her obvious talent and upside. The posturing to play in men's events, exercising sponsors exemptions from hard up promoters (most notably, the Sony Open in Hawaii...) with an attitude that her dominance over women on the LPGA was a foregone conclusion, was hubris and hyperbole, that became a joke, given her lack of performance. Anyway, the world saw a "new" Michelle Wie in Suburban Chicago over the weekend... Maybe, some humility was found in the Midwest Cornfields around Rich Harvest, that is difficult to find idolized on an island, or among West Coast hype culture... Let's hope, that is her true persona going forward... Golf and Michelle, will be better for it... Further, she was finally easier to find likable... Nike, might even some ROI for its mismangement no less...

As people like to point out, Team USA has never lost the S-cup when played at home. Wie did contribute to the success of the team just as the other players did. Whatever else people try and extrapolate from this is just speculation.

Yes, she did...this is the Michelle, we have been looking for and best part was I never saw her dad, but a couple of times in the back groun. She was allowed to be free and play her heart out alongside her fellow team-mates and represent her country. Great job Michelle...Congratulation to ALL the women of this year's Solheim Team.

Now someone is going to ask to see her birth certificate. Just like our other Hawaii-born - Obama.

Kind of hard to do when you're 14 and still living at home... Things are different now and kudos to her folks for providing her the opportunity to pursue her ambitions. It couldn't have been easy, but I am sure they are proud like the rest of her fans.

At last! Up to now, Michelle seemed so robotic and uninspired. The Michelle we saw was absolutely passionate and it was reflected in her game. I hope we see more of this in the future. It was absolutely great watching her finally have some fun. Good luck, Michelle!

The Solheim Cup was a great opportunity for Michelle Wie to experience the thrill and camraderie of team sports that her parents prevented her from experiencing in high school. Michelle Wie seems to be a prodigy and a nice person whose overbearing parents treated her like their own start-up business rather than as a daughter.

I enjoyed watching the Solheim Cup with the young group (Creamer, Wie, Pressel) mixed with the experienced older group (Inkster, Beth Daniels, Alfredsson, Laura Davies)...very nice blend. I'm glad for TEENager Michelle Wie, great talent, beauty and from Hawaii, USA. Very nice role model for the younger kids, especially as she continues her education at Stanford.

is this where we jump back on the Wie bandwagon? fine she won.. don't you think it's about time?? but more importantly i think the team should be reprimanded for excessive celebration.. they do it to the guys when they spike footballs in the end zone why should the women be treated any different.. i'm sure the women wouldn't have appreciated it if the other team won and then proceeded to rub it in their faces.. they were excited, i get it.. congratulations... but what happen to good sportsmanship?
