Well Paul your article about Wie was a good read, I know the hammer heads of the USGA have there standards and want to protect the integrity of the game. But I am sure I am not the only one passing on going to Saucon Valley. To me they are a big ego's with small brains, integrity of the game. It was okay for Tiger Woods to use outside help to move a stone the size of a VW bug and go on to win a tournament, I quit the membership then and will never, ever go to a USAG event after this ruling on Wie. For Pete's sake she is No. 10 on the LPGA money list right now.

Actually, I believe she's No. 12. Had she been No. 10, wouldn't she have made the field?

This was Bivens' revenge. Change the rules for Wie's roolie year to force her to qualify as payback for exemptions she got in the past. Don't think the reduction from 35 to 10 wasn't done without Bivens' approval. Wie and Gulbis missing out when they would be there by the old rules was the final straw that got Bivens fired. It also put Wie in the LPGA inner circle.

I know all the reasons she's not in O Little Town of Bethlehem, but it's a real shame. Forget the fact that she has no victories for a second...she's one of the best players in Women's golf. More than 60 players with no chance on getting into the top 10, let alone winning, are playing. It's a disgrace Wie isn't here. But then, that's why Women's golf is what it is, fourth rate.

I believe the still over-hyped Winless Princess did not qualify. I find it rather refreshing that the undeserved exemptions seem to have ended.

Ironic that now you are making an oxymoron statement.... that now that she actually deserves the exemption, whether via being 12th on the LPGA money list or 24th in the world Rolex rankings, you still feel she shouldn't have gotten in. Golf is very finnicky, so anyone could have a bad day (look at Creamer yesterday or Ochoa on Friday), and to expect Wie or Gulbis to be at their best on that 'ONE' qualifying day is unfair considering how well both have played 'ALL YEAR' so far. Just my two cents worth. |

and the lpga wonders why they are losing tournaments and ratings...they've made miustakes like this for years..the tour name should be changed to 'se yu soon'.

I might have an explanation as to why Wie did not qualify.
During the qualifying tournament, did she play right handed or left handed? Some time ago, she said that after she dominates the LPGA she would probably start playing left handed. Perhaps she got confused, thinking she was already dominating the LPGA and played left handed... |

I'd like a link to that supposed comment... it's B.S. rumors like that from guys like you that fuels all the mob mentality against her... |
