Why do so many people hate Tiger Woods?

Feb 14, 2012 Full story: MLive.com 57

It could be the color of Tiger Woods' skin or that he has won too much; the amount of money and fame he has and that he cheated on his wife; and that, in America, some live to build a man up and then revel in his failures.

Tiger should be ashamed of his conduct in the Masters---if he is not on top and the center of attention--his actions are not acceptable. The First Tee is trying to teach youngsters and they see Tiger act in a Professional match as he does, the PGA should take action!!!! There are too many great men in golf to let Tiger get away with this type of conduct. Profanity on bad shots and kicking clubs---he is a far cry from the greats like Jack and Arnie

Wait a second... I forgot we determine success on how he treat's his wife, if he spits and swears. His arrogance/attitude. DROPPING a club!!!!! You guys are correct but going the wrong direction. How about we get back to GOLF. People hate tiger woods BECAUSE NOBODY ON EARTH CAN DO WHAT HE DOES....
You need a new hero, bro. It seems your demigod's get up and go got up and went -- especially at the Masters.

I think golf fans hate the constant media coverage of Tiger Woods especially when he is not playing well. We are told golf would be in trouble without Tiger Woods. Whose fault is that? We rarely see other golfers when Tiger is golfing and we certainly do not see or learn enough about them to develop any kind familiarity with them. when the sports highlights come on, the same occurs. We see Tiger's round in detail and then aa few shots from the leaders. It was bad when Tiger was winning, it is ridiculous now. aResponsible gold media would reduce the numer of Tiger haters significantly.
I agree with you except responsible and media should never be used in the same sentence these days.

I like him, he's one of the best golfers I have seen play the game. Look at the gallery and who they are following in any tournament he's playing in. They are all waiting to witness shots that only he is capable of. The camera is on him constantly and everyone gets to see the good and bad that happens with Tiger on the course. Anyone who thinks that others pros arent throwing clubs and cursing when things are going badly for them are clueless. You just don't see it because the media could care less about them.

Lets see, he cusses and spits like a fool in front of our youth. He drops his club on most every bad shot. He is a dog off the course. He compliments no one. Etc,etc,etc....
Okay you're telling me someone has never cussed in front of your kid before? Also, I play golf everyday with different people and all of them spit "like a fool." Dropping a club has no real relevance in any of this, because his dropping the club is his way of showing disgust for himself to the shot he just hit, and if he wasn't disgusted by his bad shots, then he wouldn't be the competitor that he is known for and that has made him arguably the Greatest of All TIme.

I thought it was racism but now that excuse no longer flies for TW. He is an unashamed egomanical Whoremonger and a horrific example of a Father, and an American Man. Throwing clubs and his hissy fit tantrums demean and devalue the entire Golf Community.
Are you f***ing kidding me??? He makes one mistake, that I admit was huge, and all of a sudden he is the worst example of a father or an American Man that anyone can be??? What golf course in the world have you been to where someone hasn't dropped, thrown, or broken a club and cussed in disgust of a golf shot. Seriously!! Get over yourself and get a life outside of hating on the greatest golfer of all time.

Before this past week Tiger was #2 in the world ranking now #3 since Mcilroy won. He is currently #1 on the money list and on top of the Fedex standing and has won 3 tournaments this season. Who's doing better that that?

You may see arrogance and poor sportsmanship when what he is showing is intensity and confidence. He's trying to beat 150+ guys every week not finish in the top 25 and make a nice living. He's never stormed off the course without taking his hat off (which I think is a little much, now they all do that) and shaking hands. He's gives credit to the winner every week in interviews. All you see is the anger he has towards himself when he doesn't perform as he wishes and interpret that as poor sportsmanship. It's not. If he were interfering with other competitors in any way, then yes. But he is not.
As far as #1 now, Rory has a ton of talent and could definitely be the next great thing. Golf, however, isn't like tennis where #1 usually wins. If you win 10% of your entries in golf you are a star. Just because Rory beat him by 2 in the Honda doesn't mean much. It was great to not see Rory fold when the heat was on, and he did have chances to. Rory is definitely good for golf.

I have read all the comments made in this forum. I can't believe how many idiots there are out there. I wish we could all be as perfect as some of you. Most of you obviously don't play golf. That's apparent from the comments. The fact is that there will never be a greater golfer than Tiger Woods. He is dedicated to the game. He lives golf. He is golf. As long as he plays I will be watching. As for his personal life is none of my business. No one is perfect. Everyone needs to move on and get over it. As I know some people love controversy because their lives are boring and it just makes them feel better. I can just imagine what they must be thinking and saying about people around them. In conclusion "Hail Tiger Woods"!!

Tiger is the best natural athlete I've ever seen. It gives me great pleasure to see him play, win or lose. I hope he goes on to do more wonderful things in the future... like expand the Tiger Woods Foundation and win some more tournaments. I'd like that. There is little enough joy in the world to wish harm or misfortune on anyone else. He has alreday made the world, overall, a better place for having lived. How many naysayers can say the same?
Good luck Tiger, I hope you win today, or at least have fun trying.

tiger has no morals..looking back we can see how his father was able to hide the real personality tiger had,,
john daly will never catch a break again and he is a very talented golfer if u want to talk talent..
tiger woods treated his wife awful,,his relationship with his children is never mentioned..he is a sick depraved pervert who just happened to be the best golfer on earth for a few years..
now we see what he is made out of..which would be the bottom of any bucket,he is an awful person who fooled the public for many years..his personality was hidden behind his father and his golf game..
golf is a game,, i love golf but i realize it is a game,,,how a man treats his wife is no game.that is his personality
i say never invite him back to any US event.. let him cry and complain..fact is no one will listen,,no one cares for tiger woods..
he is a pathetic pervert of the worst kind

Skin, dominance and winnings! Draws a lot of scrutiny. The expection is for him to be perfect all round - not possible in human. We all have our faults. the holier than thou attitude in human makes one feel REAL better and good enough to judge. it must feel REAL good to be better than TW. Thanks to his weeknesses - for we have an opportunity to brag about our goodness over TW. Were he perfect what would people like me have over him???? Nothing I mean nothing to make us feel good about ourselves.
