Lorena must finish 8th or better to keep the title and Shin must win to take it ALL!!!

It is confusing. If Shinn stays ahead of Lorena, which she is in the first round, then I would think that if Shinn stays ahead of Lorena through the whole tournament then Shinn should stay ahead of Lorena in the Player of the Year race. I guess Shinn gets penalized because she was not a member of the LPGA last year even though she won three times and was a professional. Oh well, like Shinn said, her goal was to win Rookie of the Year, which she has, and anything is icing on the cake. |

I am not sure of how the points system works exactly. The current standing is 147 Shin to 143 Ochoa. Kerr has 118 and the winner gets 30 points. Not sure what the numbers are for the places, but they said that she must finish higher than 8th to retain. Sort of like NASCAR...they give ponts for most laps and for placing each week. |

Well, if it is straight points depending on position then if Shinn stays ahead there is no way Lorena can catch her. Of course the article might be getting the #1 and Player of the Year mixed up. Guess we'll know Sun.

Ok, here it is. If Shinn wins this tournament and Lorena finishes lower than 8th then Shinn will win the Player of the Year award. If not, then it will go to the last tournament, next week, to decide the Player of the Year award. But, the way Shinn is playing and Lorena isn't I think Shinn will win the award.
