In this day of energy conservation tens of thousands of people now have yet another one, two or three things to plug into electric outlets around their home. Maybe one could install an electricity-generating windmill with a 20-year payback and then put the antenna on top of that.

Expensive digital antenna and near free converter box and I get nothing. My typical suburban home is apparently in one of the dead zones they don't like to admit exist. So now I must pay for cable or satellite to see my previously free TV. Thanks for nothing.

Digital tv, while in concept is better, performs horribly. I had to get up no less than 7 times during last nights NBA final to again receive signal. Its infuriating. Remember when cell phones first switched to the the digital band? Dropped calls constantly. Now you have repeaters EVERYWHERE and the signal is great! Is that what is needed to make this technology work at least half a$$ed????

Rabbit ears are 10 times better than this. You have to point the antenna a different way for almost every channel. Who wants to do that? I live right by the Shoreview towers and lost 9 and 11 also. Channel 4 comes in a little and 5 is my least favorite station coming in brilliantly. Oh well, I just got a library card in case this happened and think I will use it today.

Maybe a less expensive solution would be to erect a rooftop UHF antenna.

No press on "Dead Zones" prior to the conversion.

These implementation details they won't tell us about until after the coversion to DTV is "Complete". May not be working but complete none the less!

This entire conversion foisted on the minions by the government for the betterment of public saftey. Once again get government involved in anything and it gets screwed up!!

Next stop government "Health Care". Information on Canada's "Socialized Medicine" if any indication of what we will face is NOT GOOD!

No Wait it is "CHANGE", IT MUST BE GOOD!!!

The USA has the best health care system in the world, a place where the worlds richest people come for treatment. This is because we live in a capitalist/competative country and BHO is going to change that!!

Assume the position, we are screwed!

Hey OSLI, I live near Grantsburg, too. Windmills would be a great way to go, but expensive to put up!
I have been using the converter box since April with no problems, but now after the 'official' switch, I have lost channels 5 (sort of - see next sentence), 9, 11, and 45. The weird thing is that channel 5 now shows up where in the channel 11 spot. Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

Disenfranchised. Like those poor and non-English speakers that might not get television, so they are wasting taxpayer money to reach out to ensure that they have a non-essential such as television in their homes.
It's amazing how times have changed. At one time, running water was considered a must-have, and there were people without it. Now television is a must-have, even for welfare people.
Bigots... always making a topic racial... Trust me, non-english speaking immagrants and poor are not the majority complaining about free TV. It is the middle class people who are to cheap to purchase cable or satellite tv that are crying. The coupon clippers that hold up the line at the grocery store.......

Take a course in culture of poverty or read a book about it and you will understand.

Just donate your analog tv and get a plasma or LCD.... they are cheap... or purchase a tv package... support our economy.

I am so sick of hearing about your stupid TV's. Perhaps if you spent more time reading CFR and IMF documents, and respected news sources outside of Pentagon propaganda you wouldn't be so stupid and childlike to believe there is any difference between Bush and Obama. If am part foa small minority that believes the general public should be punished for letting this happen. Take your plastic Chinese slave flag, stuff your face with hot dogs and feel good about yourself this Independence day. With any luck, the federal government will collapse soon. May you lose the rest of your pension funds and your job because you deserve it. God Damn America and TV watching ninnies.

You may have to rescan again. Some channels waited until the last minute to convert. I know 11 was advertising that they weren't going to switch over until Friday night at midnight.

My TV is broken. Ever since the switch all I get is self-absorbed TV personalities that think they are important. Oh wait, I guess it's not broken.[sigh] Time to find a good book!

If you can't get digital 5, 9, and 11 but you could before, you need to rescan because their physical (channel they actually transmit on) moved. Channels 9 & 11 were transmitting in digital on UHF before but have moved the digital transmission back down to physical channels 9 & 11 (like their old analog signal). So if you have a UHF only antenna, you may not get 9 & 11 well, especially if you are a large distance from Shoreview.
I'm not without my issues, I have a strong signal on all the Twin Cites stations, even good on channel 41 (St. Cloud) but I can't get a reliable signal from Channel 45. I think there must be interference, not signal strength.

If you think Obama will be beaten in the next election, you must be on some very strong meds. Keep taking them because you will be happier that way than facing the reality of seven and one half more glorious years of Obama. Get over it.

Glorious? There is nothing glorious about a Bush clone to lead the idiot American public into more war, torturing innocent men, women and children , overthrowing governments, selling drugs, and basically doing the bidding of international bankers and European royalty. May God Damn you and your television. I hope you lose your pension fund and I hope you lose your job. You, like most everyone, deserve to lose everything for being too stupid to read and learn how the world works. I hope and pray that this illegitimate government you worship collapses very quickly.
