Big red X on ipod classic

this is a bitch to try and fix

I have read every post and tried all of it. I have a sore palm & knee, ive bashed my ipod on every side & end to end. My wife came home & thought i'd gone crazy. I was throwing it as hard as i could onto the floor. I havn't broken it yet but still havn't got it working.:-(

know this might sound "barbaric, but the the needle in your harrdrive might have been displace and needs to be realigned. Also, the cable that connect your harddrive to your logic board might be slightly loose. This will help you connect. If all else fails, which i hope it doesn't, then i believe you should sell it on ebay or try and purchase a new harddrive. It really works

ok so i have slammed myn on the table and wall and chairs and i am getting NO luck...can some one explain to me how to open it

what do i do now? i got it working but everytime i try to download the software for the ipod so i can restore it the server connection times out

Dude, my iPod fell on the concrete and had the same problem. You know what I did? I dropped it again. CAME BACK AS GOOD AS NEW !

Incredible. I had given up and was about to go buy another ipod while cursing Apple to he!!, and then I came upon this thread. I figured hitting it against something wouldn't hurt since it was going to be trashed anyway, so I clocked it a few times against the table, then a few times against my leg (OUCH!), and guess what? The mofo is WORKING!!!!!!!

FOr those who asked, I clocked it against my leg and table while it was NOT plugged in.

Hey everyone I have this same problem with my ipod classic. I was listening to music on it and all of the sudden the red x came up and ive tryed everything that the computer said to do but its not doing anything! I tryed to put it in Disk mode but it just keeps putting the red x up and not going into disk mode. No matter what I do the red ex keeps coming up and is making all sorts of weird sounds. I have no idea what's going on will someone please help me out contact me or somthing please THANKYOUSOOO MUCH ashleek.1994@hotmail.com
