Mmmm... I'd be cross, but I wouldn't consider kissing goodbye to my Mac for it.

I'll give her one day back with Windows before she loses her mind completely!

Day 7 no email

One wonders what Wall street is watching...
You can have great earnings... but if the inner structure is failing.. as has with mobileme in a big way on a major launch..kiss that business goodbye.. A premium business (which Apple currently is) lasts only as long as it has trust with the consumer.

As unbelievably frustrating as this is, I think that Apple is making up for the slow pace of sorting out this problem with the 2 subsequent 30-day extensions of mobileme trials and subscriptions, as well as the promise that when the service is working, it's one of the best out there. It's unfortunate that anyone would abandon Apple over this issue, and it shows that "Elizabeth" cares more about making a point of her frustration than the quality of the products she uses. If she really does intend on canceling her MobileMe account even after it starts working again (and which I suspect will not have another problem like this ever again), then she either does not fully appreciate what the product does, or does not need push notification services. Either way, she is settling for less to punish a company for which problems such as the current one are rarer than they are for any other company. That just doesn't make sense.

This is why I always maintain two email accounts - just in case one isn't working. Technology is not perfectly reliable 100% of the time.

The MobileMe problems are very annoying, including the fact that it's not compatible with the current version of the web browser (IE) that my employer has "approved" for employee use. However, I plan to stick with it for the time being, because I have liked the service very much in the past, and it's quite a hassle to have to change accounts yet again.

We have 07/24/08 12:14 PT and since a week ago, our Apple email is gone on FIVE accounts! The Apple Gang which turn them self in to sponsorship kick out of forum many people and just a minutes ago I am one of them.

These guys on first and second level are a shame of Apple legacy and I am strongly considering to cancel our Apple account as well.

This whole situation is completely unbearable and totally disgusting.

i know A LOT of people (friends) who are having endless problems with synching their macs, and iphones using Mobile Me, including myself. One day it works, and the next day it does not....never sure when an update is synching with the "cloud" and when it's not.
What infuriates us all even more, is when we've asked Apple - either via Apple Care or at the Apple Store (New York's SoHo Store) they give you a reaction of surprise - as though you are doing something wrong or that no one else has had he same problem.
First off, none of us dot mac users even got a warning of this switch (until a week after their launch)- i happened to find out when i was browsing the Apple website....and i happened to be on my dot mac domain when i noticed an announcement that there was deadline to back up your bookmarks...on THAT very day - good thing i was on there at the time.....
My macs were all synching fine before using .mac but now none of them work.
I am def questioning my loyalties to Apple

their customer service is complete bs. everyone i have chatted with has uttered the same "i'm in the same boat" crap. apple has lost it's personal touch and has become a sloppy, giant corporation. they are essentially the "pc" character in their clever commercials. they are alienating the loyal customers in the face of expanding with all the new customers they are gaining. it's sickening, especially when you've been a believer and loyal customer for over 4.5years like me. and the 30 days free is bs too. they already charged my card for next year's service...they did this on day 4 of the outage. they are further proof of the downfall of corporate america. unresponsive, sluggish, greed, indifferent...apple. that should be the first slide in steve jobs' next jerk fest, whoops, technology summit.

Hm, interesting. Although I had a different Support Person than Elizabeth, mine was Elai, our conversation was suspiciously similar. Elai, also claimed that his e-mail was also down and suffering from the same situation and also offered no further hopeful information. I even asked to be credited for the days lost and Elai claimed (at the time) that Apple was not offering such an option. I'm glad to hear that 30 days has been extended to my account. I hope it takes less for me to get my mail.

I am a long-time Apple supporter, but at work I have to use Windows and Solaris, so I hope I am at least halfay unbiased:
While I think that Apple offers mostly great products and services they also have a few offerings that are - to put it mildly - not worth to throw any money at. Two that come right to my mind are iWeb and .mac alias mobile.me.
While the initial offering alias mac.com (anybody remeber that one?) was free it was good value for "money". Once Apple started charging I opted out. Not because I would not have paid a reasonable price for a reliable service, but because pricing was and still is completely unrealistic for a service that has always been patchy.
Both iWeb and mobile.me are damaging to Apple's good reputation. It's about time to get them fixed or dropped.
Lastly, I really do not envy these poor people at Apple Support at the moment. They did not create that mess, but they have to put up with the calls from disgruntled customers.

This is a much bigger problems that the wizards at apple are telling us; if they were anyone else this would be a major story - across platforms and media-instead of a bunch of angry people largely talking to themselves. This is bullshit.

It is more than "having a big bowl of bitchy" for breakfast. It is disgust in a once good company gone bad. It is how Apple treated their customers.

The first thing they did was limit customer support to email (or in rare cases chats), and usually those emails were not responded to in anything like a timely manner (think weeks instead of days).

The second thing they did was to try to minimize the PR damage by pretending there was no problem. While Apple were losing messages right and left, their status bar showed mail as completely functionable.

The third thing they did was to censor criticism of MobileMe in the Apple Discussion Groups.

All in all, their handling of the customers was even worse of a fiasco than their product.

Sorry, look i know it is a pretty big thing and all, but, aren't some of you being a little melodramatic??? Your going to stop being an Apple customer because a service was overloaded by users?? What about all your good purchases??? Come on people....here in Australia, half of our state (QLD) is still affected because of an Optus (singtel) outage...affecting more than just email accounts....we still can't recharge our phones credit where i live, and a lot of ATMs running on said network are still unresponsive...now even that doens't have people up in arms.... oh well, what would i know....:-)

Steve Jobs has a way of demanding a time table and sticking too it! Mobile Me was not ready for introduction but was a key player in the new iphone introduction so it had to go out. This is not just a Apple problem but rather a problem with what is called "cloud" computing. Trying to sync information from different software and hardware is a nighmare. I for one will let my Mobile Me account expire. All I wanted was email.
