"Taught by physics professor and celebrated lecturer Lou Bloomfield, "How Things Work" is a practical introduction to physics and science in everyday life, using an approach for non-science students."

Would all the liberals out there please sign up for this course ASAP? You might actually learn why many of your opinions are based on something other than facts.

If you want to put your ad on these sites, better cough up the money now. HOW else will they make money. It will be free but full of ads.

The laws of physics are not a matter of opinion (unless you are Ken Cuccinelli). Sounds like you need the course more than anyone.

(FYI, I took it as an undergrad.)

We ARE in the south folks, you need to keep that mind. Like this is some kind revolutionary idea. UVA lags behind in its commitment to the very community in which it rips off and its collective thought processes are still 50 yrs behind. A pretty much standard MO for the Bible Belt. Why is that? HMMMMM

Maybe some day they will not need perfessors and staff to pay that big pay check to teach and reserach. Nobody in class rooms then who need to study hard and space for other things so say so long to a lot of workers then we all will see how much you like this ideal then when maybe it will be your job taken by this ideal.

"tackling another frontier'--Hmmm, a sports metaphor mixed with a Conestoga wagon metaphor. Let me guess: Will these free courses include metaphors and a biography of Alec Trebek?

"...Thomas Jefferson's academical village..."---it seems that in recent months there has been a temendous increase in the use of Jefferson's name for quippy nickname usage regarding the University and the campus overall--will there be a course in dealing with pretension and nausea?

Seriously: There are twelve computer programming courses and one sociology course. Nothing regarding economics, finance, business, or common sense.

Ah yes, but it is all non-credit. If you want credit for taking the courses you must bring suitcases of money and live on campus.

The courses are almost exculsively for junior computer programmers.
