I am saddened that Redlands Recreation Department will only have ONE Movies in the Park. This is what my family has looked forward to each summer. We have participated in it each summer, the crafts are great, themed with the movie. The staff is WONDERFUL, and always do a great job. I understand, budgeting may be an issue, and if there was some way to "save" Movies in the Park, please let us know!

$$$$

Sponsors from businesses in town. They used to do that. And since Recreation will not have part time staff after July 1, dedicated, trust worthy volunteers.

Call City Council and let them know how you feel, especially Pat Gilbreath and Gallagher.

Thanks for the compliment Sylvia.

See what happens when the city cuts 15 part time Recreation positions to save a measly $250,000?

Movie fan has the right idea

Since when was it the City's responsibility to entertain the residents? Wanna go to the movies...pay for it. I can think of $250,000 reasons not to fund it. Want movies or layoffs? You pick! The State is going to rape cities and slash entitlement programs. Might as well get used to it, because its coming.

MIP does not cost the City the $250,000. That figure is for the pt staff for one year 1,000 hours each July 1 - June 30. You need more than 2 part time staff to run the event.

BTW it's called "Recreation" & "Community Services." What's wrong with spending an evening at the park with your family enjoying a movie?

Instead of sitting in a stuffy theatre with obnoxious teen agers that don't give a damn about anyone except themselves?

Check almost any other City Rec. program. They offer Movies in The Park and Concerts in the Park.

Wow! I can't believe how nasty he is! I guess he'd rather have the kids go join the gangs. His ignorance is astonishing! If we aren't there for our kids, then some one else will be. We need more positive family oriented activities like Movies in the Park to enhance the community. This city council has everything backwards! Thanks for setting him straight Doc. I see Bob did a good job too on another site!:)

I think they should show Karate Kid 3 and Hugh can sit my DN and BOBBY can sit by CBC. Hugh can demonstrate the "crane" technique and amaze all the blue haired women. Of course he would probably pull a hamstring. DN bring some ice.

Sorry, but they only show G movies. And watch the "blue haired" women crack. I don't think any ladies at the SC have blue hair.

And besides, I wouldn't be demonstrating moves in front of kids dumb ****. When Power Rangers first came out all the kids wanted to join Karate class to be like a Power Ranger. When they found out that it requires discipline, focus, and it is hard work, they would drop. They thought that they were just going to punch and kick and that was it.

Hi Doc! Sorry to hear about the kids quitting. It is a sad era we live in. self Discipline goes way beyond the physical aspect of defensive moves. Benefits of a character of integrity and grace are aspects so ignored. Being whole within oneself is a joyous experience of divine love. Thee are the things that should be taught to children. Those who think they gain from selfish greed are only losing out on something much more worthwhile! They can only know what they are missing through disciplining theirself in alignment with a sincere desire to lead a righteous life. Obviously El Guapo is not a handsome as he would like others to believe as he expresses is alterior motives in the above post. He may look attractive on the outside, but his inside is quite ugly.Preditors attempt to look attractive on the outside too, but their dark disgrace eventually reveals itself. What they fail to realize though is that only LOVE IS ALL POWERFUL!!! hAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY DOC!!!:)

Come to Redlands Sports Park every Friday, starting July 10th for six weeks and enjoy. Concessions available, fun for the kids, tons of parking and clean restrooms. Dearborn and San Bernardino.
Gates open at 6:30 and Movie starts at Dusk. Who can pass up free?

If perhaps you read things more clearly you would see there is FREE MOVIES and FREE PARKING at the Movies In The Park. I am thrilled that AYSO has taken on the responsibility and was able to bring back Movies In the Park. I could tell at last weeks opening Movie Day that AYSO had no intentions of taking over this historical tradition they were just happy they had a place and were able to do it. It was a sad thing to hear that the city no longer had volunteers to run the program. I consider it (along with many other people, families, kids, Redlands long time & new residents, etc) an extremely gracious gesture what the board members of the Reldands AYSO REGION 50 did! AYSO to me didnt have to do this at all! The city was willing to let it go and let the city of Redlands lose such a huge TRADITION! To me it shows that AYSO truely cares about our community and shows they care about the new & long time residents, the families here, the children here, the businesses here etc...of our wonderful little town.

Hey LOULTR take a chill pill. Yes, that was very generous for AYSO to do MIP this summer.

The Community Services Division/Recreation/Senior Services truely cares about our community and shows they care about our new & long time residents.

Everyone needs to let the City Manager and City Council know that.

Daily Horoscope for November 27

Libra

If you had a bad day with your partner yesterday, today is the day to kiss and make up. The Moon blends with Neptune to create a romantic passion; this may be a little over the top, but sometimes a bit of drama is in order. Those of you with children may find them acting up, but if you listen closely, you'll find they really just want and need your attention.
