sounds to me likes he a phycopath and people with that personality type do not feel empathy in the same way most of us do, it's a good thing that he got caught at an early age before he got older and smarter and learned how to cover his tracks so he could have more victims.

I live in a small town and have seen a woman with 5 kids come into McDonalds and leave her kids in the play area. First, McD's is not in a mall or shopping center! Second, she did not purchase anything, just dumped them with the oldest, who may have been 11.
A little while later, she returned with shopping bags and then left, again, without the kids (one was howling not to be left behind). These kids were 2-6 years old.
What the (insert preferred cuss word) is going on in her mind? Invisible, free babysitter? McD's does not compensate their employees for child-care services and there is a sign that says all children must be with an adult to play in the play area.
So mad about people who don't care enough about their own kids, I know they don't care about anyone but themselves!
Give that baby a medal. Said he'd tell, brave little man.
Call customer serice at McDonalds, let them know what is happening, hell call the police the next time you see the kids alone. People HAVE to report report report, she is probably related to someone who works in there or works there herself. People letting others do whatever they want, has got to stop. Please report it next time. It cant possibly be legal.

As awful and disturbing as this story is the part I found most shocking is, “About 20 percent of murders in the state are committed by people between the ages of 11 and 17.”
When will they learn

He is a sexual predator and will just get worse and do it more and more. They don't rehabilitate.

So Zibety Bear you think its only one race that commits barbaric crimes, well you need to open your eyes wider...how about the White rapist that kept a young 13 year old, and raped her throught out the years. How about the White church going lady, that had bible study with the kids and killed a young 7 year old girl. Now give me a break, it aint only one color comitting crime.

You are so right, they just dump there kids off on the playground. While there kids run wild and when they become teens it gets even worse. They become trigger happy gangsters because their parents have too many kids to pay attention to a single one. My neighbor in Torrance got evicted for having 8 people living in a 1 bedroom apartment.

How many Mexicans do you know who keep an eye on their kids? Go to the mall some weekend and watch them dump their kids off in the toy section or sporting goods section of a store, then wander off and leave these little seven and eight-year-olds unsupervised.
It's a shame that this little boy was murdered, but it didn't suprise me at all.

Hi, you forgot a question mark.

At the time, I wasn't sure what was happening, I was trying to keep an eye on my 3 year old grandson, and I can't afford a cell phone. I thought maybe she had left the kids with a friend, so I was looking for an adult. And the other poster is right, I see a lot of kids at the restaurants where their parents work.
I am not a stand-by person, by the way, I call law enforcement when I hear a woman screaming or a child crying constantly, if I can pinpoint where they are. 911 responders recognize my address and says, "Hi Mrs...., what is the emergency".
Don't laugh, I'd want someone to do the same for my kids and grandkids.

So sad. What a waste of two lives. This juvenile should not be given parole until he is old and frail. If he can do this at 14, who knows what he is capable of at 44? Throw the book at him and toss the key....far, far away. Sadly, the State is going to spend mega bucks to house and feed him. Maybe he will get his just dessert in jail. We can only hope.

I was thinking the same thing. Kids don't wake up one day and just decide to rape one of the neighborhood little kids. Something horrible must have happened to the 14yr to make him do something this horrible.

Mind you; there is absolutely NO excuse for what he did & he must now deal with the aftermath of his actions.

It's just a sorry situation all around!

It doesn't matter whether he understands his Miranda rights -- he understands he killed a young boy after sexually molesting him and that should damn near be enough to convict. Forty-seven years means he'll only be 61 when he gets out -- still young enough to continue molesting. Keep him until he's at least 80 and can only dream of doing something so heinous. He'll get his due course somewhere down the road in some prison system.
