Church takes tolerance to point of absurdity

The Rev. Robert Duncan, 60, is not a Lutheran, but he is a Luther, of sorts. The former Episcopal bishop of Pittsburgh has, in effect, said the words with which Martin Luther shattered Christendom and asserted ...

Will does have a point. Today, if you don't believe in an open-ended theology of inclusiveness (inclusveness being the theological goal), then your are declared a bigot or an oppressor, which is the antithesis of inclusiveness and tolerance, is it not?

"Love everyone and approve of everything they may do, lest ye be condemned for not doing so"? That's the message?

Jesus said a lot of things,
some of which are,
"Judge not lest ye be judged!"
"if my people, which are calle by my name, shall humble themsleves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;then will i hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,and will heal their land!" II Chronicles 7:14.
He also said love your neighbor as yourself!
"Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things have become new!" II Chorinthians 5:17.
Doesnt matter if you are christian or not...Jesus was a good man...and I love and thank him for what he has done for me!
God Bless You!

This is what the supporters of Prop 8 have decided to stoop to: THREATS

Leaders of the campaign to outlaw same-sex marriage in California are warning businesses that have given money to the state's largest gay rights group they will be publicly identified as opponents of traditional unions unless they contribute to the gay marriage ban, too.

ProtectMarriage.com , the umbrella group behind a ballot initiative that would overturn the California Supreme Court decision that legalized gay marriage, sent a certified letter this week asking companies to withdraw their support of Equality California, a nonprofit organization that is helping lead the campaign against Proposition 8.

"Make a donation of a like amount to ProtectMarriage.com which will help us correct this error," reads the letter. "Were you to elect not to donate comparably, it would be a clear indication that you are in opposition to traditional marriage. The names of any companies and organizations that choose not to donate in like manner to ProtectMarriage.com but have given to Equality California will be published."

People,
This is what the supporters are trying to do because they feel threatened.
If you don't like something, then just boycott it, but don't try to extort money all in the name of "TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE"

VOTE NO on Prop 8
Vote No to SCARE TACTICS
VOTE NO TO EXTORTION

Blessed Be

So Jesus mentioned her sin correct?

If the preacher shouldn't preach about sin, holiness or the hope that's within them then what are they supposed to preach about?

Just would like to know more about this new teaching I'm hearing about.

I just love the old fashioned gospel teaching...they didnt have these problems until all these new branches of Christianity starting popping up! Im just plain old Christian...pentecostal christian...the trinity...father, son, and holy spirit christian!
My Grandfather is a pastor of his own church that he founded back in the 80's and teaches sound doctrine! He now has his own bible college that touches on many subjects! I always ask him for advice..he just tells me..to obey the word of God and teach it!

I read this George Will column in the paper a few days ago. Although I usually agree with George Will, this time I do not. And I was a church-going Lutheran for 40 years.

Yes he did. Now could you point out the chapter and verse where Jesus mentioned homosexuality?

"It is not the secessionists such as Duncan who are, as critics charge, obsessed with homosexuality. The Episcopal Church's leadership is latitudinarian - tolerant to the point of incoherence."

I think this statement is ridiculous and just plain wrong.

Is this not the case, though? If the Church's leadership is clear, why the acrimony?

He didn't. He also did not mention check-kiting, forgery nor drunk driving.

What's your point?

To elaborate-the ECUSA leadership has said that the behavior in question had to be re-examined in light of modern circumstances (I'm paraphrasing, but that's the essence).

Any behavior that has been deemed 'sinful' could be re-examined in such a manner, theoretically, by ECUSA hierarchy. That's fine-its the way new protestant churches come into being.

If the core beliefs of a church cannot be stated clearly, you get what is happening now with ECUSA. In my opinion, Will is correct in this regard. It's not necessarily a pejorative, as it plays into the private interpretation belief, but it is a fact.
