yip I agree, it's a sad day for Toyota and F1. I was hoping Kobayashi's drives would have sparked some support from the Japanese HQ. Wonder if they will try sell the team or just shut it all down ....

Bad news, and I hope this doesn't close the door on any further opportuniy for Kobayashi. Toyota's decision to quit is good news for Peter Sauber though, and could be an opportunity for Timo Glock to be considered by Mclaren.

It has also been reported Renault are considering leaving the sport also today,so a large wait and see, or is this also the end for them too.

With all due respect to Trulli, it's time for him to call it a day. Kubica, especially will have no problem in finding another ride if Renault drops out. Let's remember Sauber, and hope that it find it's way back on the grid. Smokey do you think Lewis might put in a good word for Timo at Mclaren???

hey you three dufuses, I've been warning you lot for months now that Renault are not a certainty for 2010 .. Carlos Ghosn is not an easy man to please, and after the crashgate scandal he was very unimpressed ... make no mistakes he is not a guy who does things without results, and renault have been pretty sad for 3 yrs now ... I will not be surprised if they bail ... and with Toyota going, it's the perfect timing for renault to go too. My only concern there is will they stop Engine manufacturing too, because that could affect RBR as well, which would just be plain wrong ...

R.N.Bob, Yes I will admit you did say Renault would also go,after the scandal. I did think it was part of their agreement for not getting nailed to the wall, that they would stay and continue in F1.
RBR have been trying to get Mercedes engines for next year, should that be telling us something,I wonder if any of the new teams are using the Renault engine?if they do pull out and just supply engines but I hope they stay just my opinion.

Renault haven't pulled the plug yet.Jeeezz! just because Toyota pulled out doesn't mean Renault will follow! They had a meeting to decide F1 budget and goals.Unlike dumbasses Toyota,Renault's budget is about half of Toyota's! I would have pulled the plug on Toyota 3 years ago with the millions they were wasting.

Manufacturers come and go but F1 is better off with teams that are purely there for racing like Ferrari from day 1 in F1! Like Williams and McLewsers.Renault are much more efficient with the money they spend and it looks like they will end up being the only maufacturer in F1 just like they where in the early 80's when they pioneered to awesome Turbo Era:)with no refueling and 4 times as much overtaking!!
Will be same next year! One Legend (Ferrari) One manufacturer (Renault) and 11 other teams built just for racing with no refueling allowed!!

GFG. Renault have held an emergency board meeting in Paris to discuss pulling out of Formula 1 with immediate effect.

The French car company was considering whether to remain in the sport with its own team, switch to simply being an engine supplier or quit altogether.

The outcome of Wednesday's meeting was not immediately forthcoming.

Yep.Can't understand why Ghosn is gonna wait till the end of year to decide to quit or go on in F1.Maybe it's just Ghosn's way of saying to the designers and engineers that they had better produce a much better design of a car than the R29,That Renault isn't in F1 just to keep the team employed without decent results. You can't get too comfortable. They were 8th in the WCC in 2009 which all came down to a crappy car design.

the renault is great motor minus some reliability issues as vettel experienced and showed us all. I think the major flaw was the aero package. that renualt just looked big, bulky and slow. comparing to the red bulls that looks sleak, light and were damn fast. Hopefuly renualt can learn from RBR

Thanks Barry, I have just read the news, and statment given by Renault.

Renault will decide by the end of the year whether or not it is staying in Formula 1 after a troubled 2009 season.

The French car company held an emergency board meeting to discuss quitting the sport, but has deferred its decision for the time being.

"You will have to be patient," Renault chief executive Carlos Ghosn told reporters on Thursday

"We will make an announcement on our participation in Formula 1 before the end of the year."

News of Renault's possible exit comes in the week that Toyota confirmed it was quitting F1, becoming the third manufacturer to leave the sport in the last 11 months.

Renault's emergency board meeting was attended by F1 team bosses Bob Bell and Jean-Francois Caubet, although neither man was allowed to take part in the debate about the team's future.

Renault have had their least competitive F1 season since 2002 and finished eighth out of 10 teams in the constructors' championship after Sunday's final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

hey sheep boy this has nothing to do with the size of their budgets, Renault met to discuss their future in F1, end of story. Let's be honest after the way your pal Alonso and Flav bastardized the entire Renault name in F1 with their very honourable Crashgate saga last year, Carlos Ghosn would not be blamed for pulling out. And let's be honest the fact that Honda, BMW and Toyota have bailed, why would Renault want to stay ...

Oh and by the way, me thinks Mercedes is just a little more than one of the 11 other teams racing, and other than Ferrari, Macca have been in racing longer than any one else, including the crash plotting froggie cowards ....

Hey Bob.Do you still have your head stuck up that Elephants ass?you dumbass African!

Yeah it was Flavio and Not Alonso that had anything to do with crash gate. The whole thing was pretty funny really.I mean it's not as if Renault were fighting for the WDC unlike Schumi who got away with his own crashgate in 1994 to win the WDC by taking D.Hill out in Adelaide!! and tried it again it 1997 against JV in Jerez for the title but the FIA were on to it and Schumi became the only driver in history to have all his WDC points for the season deleted!

Now I know why Dumbass is your favourite word after having your head stuck up an Elephants ass! Hahaha

Alonso bastardize Renault ??... again Bob ... give the blue JW a rest !!!!

Alonso gave Renault 2WC and this year gave them 26 points with an spun-before-achieving-a-single point car !!!

Alonso has not been part of any spy-crash or watever gate you try to pull him into ... he's just a Ferrari material and "a true gentleman" !!!

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Sagittarius

You'll feel friendly with everyone you meet today, and you might even be lucky financially. Money should be coming in, but going out rather fast as well... Astral influences will keep you on your toes, and will probably make you flirtatious, but they could also make you moody. This makes it tricky for close relationships to run on an even keel. The truth is, perhaps you don't want too much closeness at the moment. Your partner probably knows that you're often like this, by now, anyway.
