Might as well just let JT go play for the Patriots like many other Fins have done. We'll lose those 2 games regardless.

Heh, all the speculation that originally caused all that controversy came from the media- so take your own advice. You're rumor-hounds and mongers, the whole lot of you. Fans had a right to be peeved and expect him to show and play, and if there was any misguided anger due to false accusations of Taylor then stick your head up your a$$ and you'll see where it came from!

Grow up! fairweathered fan would have meant I would no longer cheer for the dolphins because they aren't winning... I am cheering on the dolphins, and I love JT, but if he doesn't want to play here, so be it...why should I or BP or anyone else kiss his a55? JT wants to think about life after football? do it from Jan through april...not during workouts...voluntary or not! He made that commitment to the tv show fine...why didn't he come back to workouts once it was done?

Hyde, Why are you trying to twist Taylor's words around...He PUBLICLY SAID HE WANTS TO PLAY IN MIAMI, BUT HE UNDERSTOOD IF THE DOLPHINS WANTED TO TRADE HIM !! I don't think it is an issue...Taylor will be a Dolphin in '08 without any harsh feelings....Besides Taylor just made it harder for the Dolphins to trade him because he also publicly said he is playing for "One More Year"....Nobody is going to trade away a young guy or a future pick for one year!!

Huh wrote: JT has been our best player for about 8 years now and the only reason to watch this team the last 4 years. His only sins have been wanting to play his last years on a contender and taking part in a show most football fans found to be "fruity". If he was a few years older he would have been cast away like Zach followed by some fans crocodile tears and he was a few years younger he would have netted some high draft picks like Jared Allen. Instead he is too young/good to just give away and too old to fetch any high draft picks. No one is really right or wrong in this situation. Taylor is tired of constant rebuilding efforts and ready to move on from football and wants to play his last years on a contender and NO one can blame him. Parcells has been put in charge of an extraordinary rebuilding project and he can not just give away his best player considering how many holes this team has and NO one can blame him. Just another bad situation this team is to accustomed to after years of mismanagement. ZT and JT are 2 different situations... ZT had/has concussion issues. JT doesn't want to play here...if he did, he would be here during the workouts after he finished DWTS. But you'r right that this is a bad situation for both JT and the dolphins!

Observant fan wrote: <quoted text>sorry marinofan...the workouts may be voluntary, but with a new coaching staff, they are VERY important to teh season...I'm not saying he shouldn't have done dancing... but he should have been back as soon as it was over... doesn't matter if you're a veteran or a rookie, you're all going to see a new playbook this year... I've got to agree that he should have come back ASAP, especially with a new playbook being implemented... good call. And I've also got to agree that the media has ginned this story up BIG TIME. But I also think that Tuna needs to come down from his self-made pedestal and iron this thing out instead of snubbing JT. Perhaps if there was actually dialogue between the two, there would be a better understanding? Instead, the media got their hands on the issue and made the situation worse for all parties. I still think that Dave Hyde is calling it correctly; he never fanned the fires in sensationalizing this mess when it was yet a non-story. That's my humble take on this... GO PHINS!!!

I totally agree with you. Jason seemed to be a great guy. They now have Bill running the show and he is not a good guy.The dolphins have not been good since they forced Don out.

That's not fanning the fire? what about the sentinel's and herald's articles stating that JT was going to ask for a trade before he had his interview? that's not fanning the fire, that's throwing lighter fluid at it. It just seems hypocritical to tell fans not to get hyped up over an issue that the media itself has hyped up! Agree with the rest of your post, BTW...

I certainly do not care if JT is 34,35,36 or 40.....to me he (like Zach and Dan) are the quintissential Dolphin's. They are untouchable and should retire only playing for 1 franchise. It actually feels good to a fan to have a guy like this on your losing team. They are a reason to still watch a floundering team....??? I'm always amazed that the media starts all this stuff from the smallest word that comes out of a the mouth of an athlete and errupts it into a national story that embarrases the hell out of the fans, the team and the city. I sincerely do not want a draft pick for JT.......I'd rather him mentor the incoming. Let management find the gems in the later rounds like you're paid to do, who I also firmly believe in as well. The Dolphin's will be good again.......everything comes around at some point in time. As fans we need to stay loyal......period.

Glen wrote: Please, enough comparisons of Taylor's situation to that of Strahan's last year. The Giants had a team already built with an already established defense. The Dolphins don't have that, which makes it that much more important for the supposed team leader on defense to participate in these offseason camps and minicamps. And besides, Strahan was seriously considering retirement, Taylor has ruled that out. You're right Glen the Strahan comparisons are stupid. Hyde should know better. Two other comments on Hyde's article which was better than usual but still off the mark. - Zach clearly did not fit the size requirement that Sparano wants for linebacker hence they cut him loose. I'm glad he got with a winner and hopes he gets to the Big Show! - JT killed whatever trade value he had by moving to LA for 3 months and clinched it when he said yesterday he was playing one more year. How you morons can blame Parcells for the loss of JT's trade value is bewildering indeed. If a playoff team has a key injury before the season we may still get a number 2 for JT but if there is a third round pick on the table we should take it. JT will not be on this team at the start of the season.

Jason has conducted him self with the type of class of a Dan Marino or Don Shula. He should be treated with the respect he has earned for what he has continued to do thru a career of being on a team without a clear direction.
