Dave; you're a very good writer but you are way off on this one. This perenial loser chose dancing over football; how do you expect for people not to be completely disappointed in him?

The reality is that he should have been in in camp the day, "Dancing with the stars" was over...period.
Anything less he was being less than a serious football player...you don't pay a player $8Million a year (and next) to be anything less!!!

Is JT a rook who needs to read the initiation manual (VOLUNTARY workouts)? Tuna is beginning to stink to me. Really, Tuna has made JT's trade value worse. What's this whole stink about? It's the Tuna smelling like 7 day old meat. Apparentely, loyalty means nothing anymore. Great article, Dave!!! I'm with you 100%! GO PHINS!

Right on Dave !! How can anyone who is a Dolfan NOT want J.T. back? 2 years ago DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR and last year NFL MAN OF THE YEAR . You "so called Dolfans" who think otherwise should go find a good surgen and see if he can cut your head out of your behind!! Either that or be a lousy stinkin' jets (lower case intentional) fan !

Please, enough comparisons of Taylor's situation to that of Strahan's last year. The Giants had a team already built with an already established defense. The Dolphins don't have that, which makes it that much more important for the supposed team leader on defense to participate in these offseason camps and minicamps. And besides, Strahan was seriously considering retirement, Taylor has ruled that out.

People just don't read. Those OTA days ARE VOLUNTARY!!! Please, before you post, get the real facts straight. JT doesn't have to be there until training camp. OTA IS NOT TRAINING CAMP! If I was JT, I'd get out of Miami. I wouldn't play for the Dolphins or for these crummy fans. Parcells is CLEARLY wrong on this issue. You guys keep talking about offseason camps and minicamps. They don't put plays in those sessions. Those guys just run around and work on their own pretty much. The camp you should worry about him missing is TRAINING CAMP. This guy has given the Dolphins his all. I hope he goes to the Patriots or Cowboys and win the big one. Another "stupid" remark is that "he should honor his contract. Hey, he has no choice because if another team picks him up in a trade he has to honor that contract. Nowhere in an NFL contract does it say that a player hgas to participate in OTA days, minicamp or offseason camp. The NFLPA stated in their collective bargaining agreement that the player can be fined for missing TRAINING CAMP days. Taylor is just following what Dan Marino did. Marino didn't workout a lot at OTA days and sat around in a golf cart laughing at guys. Taylor, just because he doesn't show up at voluntary stuff is now labeled a jerk and most fans don't even recognize his charity work in SF. Miami fans are about as clueless as the Jet fans when it comes to real football issues. It's just like my friend said, "the Spirit of the Miami Dolphins and the true fans left when Joe Robbie died."

Zach was let go because he was someone the new staff felt would not fit "their" defensive style (i dont agree). JT is needed to make this defense the best it can be!! So the only way they let him go is for the right price. I dont believe they want to trade Taylor, the only way this team can do well is with him!! We may have a crappy team, but i always believe they will be good until about week 6 anyway

Please wait...
It's right to look for life after football, when you have 2 more years at 8 mil per, and then your football pensions, which pays OJ Simpson like 12,000 a month, so I can imagine how much Taylor's pension would be. Wrong timing, he needs to thinks about football until he retires. Strahan was pondering retirement, not by going to a reality show. So, please stop this charade.

Parcells and Sparano are handling an 11 year vet like a Pacman Jones!!! That really shows that they truly believe that players are just a piece of meat.

Thank you David Hyde - Jason Taylor is everything we ask our athletes to be and so much more - his rare combination of athletic ability, team loyalty, intelligence and social grace is exemplary and I, for one, feel GOOD knowing that he will not join the legion of lost souls whose lives flounder when their sports careers end. He's a stellar athlete and a great American - we should all wish him well.
