the reason the Raiders look so awful is that their offensive line stinks....just start with Gallery..second player taken in the draft?..poor Walter...reminds me of Bubba Paris with the 49ers..."look out"

Wow. You must really not like the Raiders. First, you start with a slam at Davis for making bad personnel choices but you cite to only two players on offense (Brooks and Walter) and then dismiss the great personnel choices on the defense as "it's passable." Passable? They are a top-rated defense with some great draft picks such as Kirk Morrison, Fabian Washington, and Thomas Howard and great free agent pick-ups like Derrick Burgess (could be one of the best free-agent pick-ups in the last 5 years). You cannot fairly criticize an owner for bad personnel choices without looking at the good personnel choices. I could point to bad personnel choices by every GM in the league. Does that mean he is a bad GM? No, you have to take the total picture. I'm not saying that overall Davis has done an outstanding job--he hasn't. But your characterization of his job, by focusing on two players on offense, is slanted and unfair.

Just looking at your picture tells me you have no clue as to how a football team should be built after all how could you? You have obviously never played the game.
Your lack of credit for the Oakland Defense is in my opinion a reflection in the credit of you reporting. You have either never watched this Defense play or you just have no clue what you are seeing. Either way you should not pass on your Amateur Hour observations as fact. |

The problem is not personnel really, it scheme. The Raiders are predictable.
Predictable in the NFL is not a good thing. If they have Randy Moss to exploit the vertical passing game, then let him do what Randy does. It would help trememdously if they allowed Jerry Porter to command attention on the other side, so that Randy could see more single coverage. The pieces are in place but how can a team with Art Shell as coach, and Jackie Slater as O Line coach have a product that gives up QB sacks on three consecutive offensive plays? Defensively, the Raiders may be better than every AFC team west of the Mississippi other than San Diego, but you cannot know how good a defense is if your offense leaves them on the field so much that their toungues can't stay in their mouth before halftime. Note to Al Davis. Get a GM, A GOOD ONE, and enjoy your golden years! |

the defense is not that good as what the stats say. teams go basic on the raiders because they don't have to open their playbook, the offense is so poor the other teams go into preseason mode and the raider defense is stopping very conservative offenses.this is what is blowing up their stats, watch the games, when a team needs or wants to move the ball on their defense ,they do it. pittsburgh did it but ben would just give it away in the red zone, cards didn't have a chance seeing they just fired their o.c. 4 days before. the rest, the browns moved it on them when they wanted, the 49er's moved it on them and they can't against good teams, seattle went into conservative mode in the first qrtr and still ran for over 200 yds. san diego did the same thing in week 1. no,you watch, this defense will fold when another team has to keep the playbook open and has to score, don't confuse other teams going conservative with the raider defense shutting them down.

Have you watched a Raiders game this year or are you just copying what espn says? This is the first year Walter has played in a game. He may not become a starting quarterback in the NFL, but it takes more than eight games to learn the position. Give him a chance. As for Gallery, he may not have been worthy of the second pick, but he would have been picked by almost any other team at number two. His failure is on him, not the Raiders. Funny how people seem to forget Al Davis was the runner up executive of the year earlier this decade. Of course the man who won that year was hired by Al Davis. He's done more for the NFL in the last five years than any sports writer ever has done for any organization. Raiders Baby!

The only reason that I even came to this page was to laugh at the frustrations that the Raiders fans must be feeling. Instead I found out that the Raiders had many true although seemingly ignorant fans. First of all, Andrew Walters is a bust plain and simple. He has absolutely no heart and he proves this every week. Last Sunday against the Broncos he gave up and gave the game away when there was still a chance to win it. What kind of true NFL caliber quarterback fumbles and turns the ball over two plays in a row? I can understand that sometimes when the O-line isn't playing up to par they may not be able to avoid the sack but not lose the ball twice in a row. I'm a die-hard Cowboys fan and we were dealing with a QB that just didn't seem to be able to stay on his feet but he did manage to go to the ground with the ball still in his hands (Drew Bledsoe). Now, we've gone to our scrambling QB to make up for our O-Line weaknesses and also to decrease the defenses blitzes. I say toss Walter and put Brooks in it can't get any worse. It just may open up the offense some. To whoever said bench Moss that had to be the worst idea in the world. I'd be more than delighted to see him in Dallas. You can't blame receivers when they have QB's that throw the ball at their feet. If you have no confidence in your QB's ability to get the ball to you it may cause a drop or to when he SURPRISES you by actually throwing a decent pass. Andrew Walter is a never been and never will be. If he can't produce with targets like Randy Moss he is trash. Just look at what Moss did for Culpepper's career who proved he was a bust without Moss. The saddest part of Sunday's game was on the last fumble Walter looked like he didn't even want the snap. It looked like he just let it drop then he could have recovered it if he only TRIED. Instead he just layed there on the ground and waved his arms. If I was a Raiders fan I would never be caught defending Walter. He is a disgrace to the Raiders organization. He has thrown three times more INT's than touchdowns. Tony Romo has thrown more TD's and almost as many yards in 3 1/2 games as Walter has in nine. He is still not a top notch QB, but if Walter came to Dallas I'd kill myself. Just imagine what it would be like if the schedule had not been such an easy one also. It would be horrible. To sum it up it doesn't matter if Walter was great in highschool, or college he is just not a professional caliber quarterback. Get rid of the bum. |

i think to be a good football team you need to keep a coach.
if youre players have to learn a new system every couple of years they will get frustrated and nothing gets done. keep shell.get rid of walsh. trade moss and porter they dont want to play so why bother.the defnse will only get better keep them together.i would maybe draft troy smith inthe draft from ohio state and keep walter brooks 1 2 3 qb.run the ball more with all 3rb use other receivers curry witted morant keep trying to get te involved. |
