Biggest turnover on council since '93
The voters of Lowell were hungry for change. They got it. In the biggest turnover since 1993, the citizens gave the nod to three newcomers on the City Council, bouncing veteran Councilor Armand Mercier and his embattled colleague, Alan Kazanjian.

I couldn't agree more. My faith in the voters of Lowell has been renewed. While we didn't clean house of all the troublesome incumbents, it's still a victory to be proud of. It's time to let our City Manager do his job and the City Council to do it's job. The School Committee can now move past the infighting that follows Regina whereever she goes. Out with the old and in with the new! |

I just watched your video. You said that some people think you're a loser, but you know that even though you didn't win, you are the biggest winner. I couldn't disagree more. I will always say hello and chat with you, but in my mind, I have no respect for you and feel sorry for the values that you are teaching your children. |

Too bad.Hopefully Kazanjian will make a comeback in the next C.C. election 2 years from now after the investigation into him has been proved false and nothing but a set-up.

HAHAHAHAHA! Set-up? Are you serious? Ames got fired for working for Kazanjian on city time, not just for sleeping in Kazanjian's garage on city time, which is bad enough (I'm sure righteous Kaz knew about it too, since they go way back). PERIOD. CASE CLOSED. THEY DID SOMETHING WRONG AND GOT CAUGHT SO STOP WHINING ABOUT IT. And what about the sewer tie-in that Kaz hooked up to after the city denied his permit for FOUR MONTHS because HE DIDN'T THINK HE'D GET CAUGHT? HAHAHAHA! Good riddance to corrupt rubbish! |

WTF? I am a "blow-in"? I resent that remark, I voted for Franky too, but am wondering if that was the best vote. We're all Lowellians, and she's already dividing us into those who have been here awhile and those who are recent.

The Lowell Sun, as usual, hates to give Rita Mercier any "ink". When the newspaper does, it's grudgingly. She has topped the ticket with the most votes election after election, and still you don't see her prominently on the front page of the Sun where it should be. Same old yellow journalism. If it were one of the Sun's chosen few, things would be different, as usual they always get the "ink".

Chill out. Franky was comparing "life long Lowellians" to the people who have moved here recently - and that could be in the last 10-15 years. I think you need to give her and this council a chance...they haven't even taken the oath. Stop being defensive and divisive. |
