Please show me one instance where the Redskins coaching staff said that. They gave a number of reasons, some which were later contradicted by themselves, but they never said the reason was because he didn't play within the system or did his own thing. That has been a theme which has been picked up by writers such as yourself that has been repeated so many times that it has become fact.

I live in DC, and this was communicated from the Redskins organization to the media (just not in front of the camera). It has been well documented by knowing insiders such as George Michaels, Sonny Jergensen, Michael Wilbon, etc.
It appears that the Giants were not listening.

You are wrong, this was stated by coach Williams and Gibbs several times... does he even play in NY? case closed.
