Bob Kravitz's report card

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

First, the bad news. The Colts have forgotten how to run the football. Anybody remember the New England game? That was the last time Joseph Addai broke 100 yards.

Wow, a bit of scary game. It was an ugly win, but at the end of the day, a win nevertheless. However, I agree that the run game was non-existent and don't understand why. Haven't looked at Joseph's run attempts, but it can't have been many. Who is calling the pass so much, Peyton or Tom Moore? Seems that you don't establish a run game by making a handfull of attempts.

Oh,and by the way, for all you Patriots fans that frequent this site; see you in January.

They must have had Dallas Clark smothered. If I"m correct 1 catch for 9 yards. With all the rookies playing I thought it was a good win. Good teams have to win games like this

Hi Bob--
Be careful what you wish for....Mr. Davis might still have some fire left....
You know, in the old days he might have hired someone to set fire to the press box, just so you get the heat you asked for :-)
Good report card...but how come you didn't comment on Dallas Clark's poor effort?

Kravitz, you are an idiot. Every team out there is professional, and capable of beating any team, at any time. Who in the hell are you to grade any team, in any sport at that. Your articles are sometimes a joke, and only prove that your knowledge of sports is as short as you are.

When you don't have all of your receivers, and your passing game is hard to get going, defenses are going to focus on stopping the run.....duh...Kravitz, you know nothing....
just wondering

About the running game. Last year Addai and Rhodes were a tandem and both were relatively fresh for the post season. This year Addai and Keith started out as a tandem, but in recent games Addai has been the main man.

Could it be that Joseph is worn down over the season like many running backs that have been over used?

Just wondering.

i would give your report card a B+, can't give an A because i would never(this year)give this special team's better than a C-. one good runback for the year does not improve the grade. keep up the good work.

No way do the special teams deserve anything higher than a C- and that is generous given their status as the worst in the league. The return for a touchdown saved them from an F. I saw more of the Colts leaving their feet when defending on the kickoffs and that is inexcusable at this stage of the season. That leads me once again to the coaching grade of A. When you stick with a special teams coach that isn't getting it done then the best Dungy deserves is a B. Remember where the buck stops.

As for the passing offense, Reggie deserves an A, Gonzalez a very solid B+, and Dallas Clark an F-. As for Utecht, well his dropped pass tells the story of the entire game, missed opportunites, particularly the inability to score in the red zone. So the pass offense defense deserves no better than a C. Really sub par stats but did win a stinker of a game.

I can't see why the run defense deserves a C when you gave the run offense a richly deserved F. They made Rhodes look great and allowed the Raiders to control the ball, a D at best.

I agree the Colts got Lucky. Their play was sloppy. Run defense was horrible. Yes we did have rookies everywhere. On offense, Clark needs Super Glue for Christmas! I love the guy but he keeps dropping the ball. He caught 1 out of what, 10 attempts? At least we know Tony Dungy can catch since he went 1 for 1 on the sideline!

Dallas dropped several passes that were right to him which effected Peyton's numbers as well. Normally he is clutch, but not lately.

They had Clark covered part of the time. When he was open, he had at least 3 drops.

Dallas Clark ALWAYS kills the Patriots. What's wrong? I believe that he had a concussion. Is he OK? There may be a residual effect (physical or psychological).

I kept wondering why our running game was non-existent. The post about Addai getting tired from being the only back we use might be valid. Although, Keith does OK when he is in there, so I don't know why they don't use him more to spell Joseph. And, remember this: EVERY team we play is UP for us! We are the Super Bowl champs and our opponents (except Baltimore) play their best against us. That was the case yesterday. But, we won with more rookies and third stringers in there than I could count. That is the mark of a great team --- we found a way to win. Kravitz' comments about looking like a pre-season game was right on. I can't wait till we get all our players back and healthy. The Pats fans are concerned about this, too.

Coach of the year??? I thought the primary reason for the loss to NE was coaching. When will they learn that the only thing a Prevent Defense does is to Prevent a Win?

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aries

There's a lot of tension in the air, with certain people poised to spit the dummy, as Mars turns retrograde in your fifth house of romance, children and speculation. Confrontations are likely. If these are nothing to do with you and you just happen to be directly in the firing line, your best bet is to make yourself scarce. But if you are responsible for their outraged feelings then you need to face the music, otherwise things will only get worse.
