Are the Bears and Forte Making Progress on a Contract Extension?

Could the Chicago Bears and running back Matt Forte be closer to a contract extension? It does not sound like a deal will be made soon, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. The Bears placed Matt Forte with the franchise tag on March 2nd.
