I know that everyone here in KC wants to bash Herm right now. He is easy pickings.
I won't bash anyone in the organization at the moment, because I believe that they are finally doing the right thing. For years now, we have all watched as Carl Peterson tried in vain to cobble together a Super Bowl team out of aging veteran cast-offs from other teams. They have been competitive and made the playoffs. They have always come up short.
Finally, almost two decades later, the Chiefs are actually trying to build a team themselves. They are doing it through the draft, and trying to develop young players. Every great franchise has done it this way, and suffered through some miserable seasons at first.
I have been hoping that the Chiefs would finally work up the nerve to let a season or two go, in the effort to build a legitimate winner, and actually go to the Super Bowl. That is the point, isn't it? I'm tired of watching playoff quality Chiefs teams, which were obviously not good enough to make it all the way. I applaud Peterson and Edwards for having the guts to take this risk, and try to finally win a championship.
