The Vikings need a durable defensive end, a catching tight end, and a huge offensive guard that can make holes for Adrian Peterson.

Vikings always have an excuse for missing the playoffs or winning the Super Bowl. There are high expectations especially since Management have added high priced athletes in key positions. I wonder if they have the mental and emotional desire to win as a team this time around.

Now it passes we've lost another DL backup in Kendrick Allen, and for the year. That was a costly game against Seattle. We ARE having bad luck with injuries so far this year. Nevertheless, it's way early for panic. Go Vikings!

Once it's not pre-season, and they're not trying out different players Etc. etc. with "vanilla" strategies, you'll see the REAL Viking defense.

I agree Arch, I wouldn't show anybody a thing, just get the guys their reps and hope for no dings and on opening night in Green Bush unleash the hounds..at least on defense...13-3...Jrod meet A-Rodg...ouch...
maybe Rodgers can guess the Williams' weights up close an personal after the double teams disappear trying to protect his assette from the edge pressure.

Well, i finally got to see the baltimore game on NFL network.

I saw this:

I honestly beleive Leslie Frazier is not tipping his hat in the preseason as to what our base defense is going to consist of for the run. Those formations were NOTHING resembling the formations that got us ranked #1 against the run last year.

The other thing, Jarred Allen had 2 sacks.... He SHOULD have had 4, if he would have wrapped the qb up and taken them down, I think he's taking it easy in the preseason. He's going to be impressive this year.

Letroy Guion almost killed Kyle Boller with a vicious sack.

I think when Garret Mills gets of IR, we will be ok at tight end, we are so-so at the moment, even though Shiancoe had a nice 1st down.

I think you can look at the Vikings picking up 1 more veteran defensive end when cuts start happening, but REMEMBER PEOPLE- Brian Robison will be ready by week 1 too.

So don't start panicking. We're still in a good position to anhialate Green Bay on MNF.

This could be a great year for Ray Edwards. He has the fire and is improving. The left side is where he was most comfortable.

Why do they even play the starters? I know they need "game time" but come on too many good players hurt. Why not let them sort it out in practice and then just start up opening day all injury free and ready. Berrian needs to tape up and play football,a toe injury that came with a billion dollar price tag. It looks like Buyers beware this year in the free agent pool. Too much money spent on players that can't live up to thier pay check. I've ben a Viking's die hard fan for almost 20 years and this is the year that we shock the world. Lets get back on the feild and win us a super bowl! GO VIKINGS!!!!

If Berian's toe injury lingers all year, that's got to impact his speed and effectiveness, which is the reason we got him. The D tackle injury isn't a big deal given the performance of the rookies, although if Robison doesn't come back strong, they'll need help at DE. I wonder why Boulware isn't getting many reps with the first team D given the fact that he started at Seattle for a while.

I agree with andy g: I seriously think that they're just keeping the cards close to their chest with alot of things.
Think of it like this: Same "D" Co-ord. Same run-stuffers, improved pass rush.- Have they really shown any of it? On offense: We KNOW they can kick-*** with the running game.- Have they REALLY shown much? For obvious reasons, they have shown what the QBs & receivers can do. It strikes me, that that's too get future opponants to not "sell-out" against the run. Or they're going to get hurt. It sounds like good strategy to me.

MNF in GB is going to be a helluva lot different than what people are seeing here in pre-season. And like IAvikefan said: "Don't forget about Robison". That lad's got potential up the wahzoo. Childress always did dink around with how bad/not bad players' injuries were/are.

I appreciate Coach Frazier's candid comments about his players being out of their gaps. It's insulting to fans when coaches cover up and/or deny mistakes that are obvious, and suggests they do so because they have no solution. ce.
