Romeo, Romeo, where is your mind Romeo?
Don't listen to the dufuses who say start Interception Frye. Cut Interception Frye and Fumble Anderson. Start Brady Quinn as the next coming of Bernie Kosar. Browns fans need a hero who can win for the long haul. |

So we're going to waste another preseason opportunity, playing two QBs who have virtually NO CHANCE of playing a single down this year? Romeo, when will you see: You're not giving your starter enough in-game reps to get him completely prepared and comfortable with the offense starting the reg. season. This has been your pattern since you arrived. What's the point of not playing your inexperienced starting QB (Frye)?? And after at least a half, you go to your #1 backup (for now, at least), Brady Quinn, who needs all the game exposure he can possibly get!! Better now than when Frye breaks a leg vs. Pittsburgh, don't ya think?

It is nice to observe an offense that looks like it belongs to be on the field with the opposing team. It is also great to finally see an offensive coordinator who can not only spell offense, but also design and implement one with deception. I am cautiously optimistic about this team.

this is great news for the defence, they should get more of a rest
3 and out no more, |

This next game should be interesting.....
The Bears D is the best one that the Browns will have faced so far. I'm hoping the Browns can come out the gate and execute well from the get-go. As for the Bears offense.... Grossman didn't play very well in their last matchup. Confidence builder for our defense? This is a good chance for the Browns to go up against a good team and show they can hang. I think they'll be the talk of the weekend with a good showing against the Bears. |

I still don't get why Crennel hasn't named a starter. Just put in Frye. Give him the start against Pittsburgh. All this Secret Squirrel junk... it just makes him look kinda lost. It doesn't help any of the QB's. That and having the GM come out and say who is and isn't starting... isn't that a bit odd?
I personally don't think Frye is the long-term solution for the Browns at QB.... but if they are seriously considering him, give him a break.... make him the starter for Pittsburgh and try to build up his confidence and start getting him more reps in practice. Start working on getting him executing with the offense and doing final prep with him. The regular season is closing in fast and the time for stupid games like "Coin Flip for QB!" and "Guess Who Our Starter Is!" is done. Romeo.... your TEAM needs you to step up and BE the head coach. Make a decision, and stick with it. If it turns out badly, "man up". If it turns out well, then hey.... you've got a win to start the season. I'm beginning to think this "QB Controversy" is being overdone to generate publicity and fan fervor at this point..... |

Get this team winning some games....
I'm tired of listening to these bandwagon Chargers fans out here. I can tell you guys this.... This team out here.... couldn't get fans into their stadium in perfect weather San Diego up until maybe 2 years ago. The city had a deal with the team where they would buy up all the unsold seats for every game..... and they were losing their butt off of it (it went part of the way to wipng out the city's $3 bil pension fund). This team out here couldn't draw fans until they made that play-off run with Marty "Can't Win the Big Game" Schottenheimer. Now.... they've grown out of the woodwork and are obnoxious as all hell. Cleveland still has the best damn fans in the land. Zero degrees.... blizzard conditions.... losing team.... AND STILL SHOW UP TO THE GAMES. Just a shame we couldn't do what Green Bay had done as far as team ownership...... |

Why play Anderson? Obviously, his time here is short. The first quarter should go to Frye, Quinn should get the 2nd and 3rd quarters for more exposure to first defense (not that there will be too many starters playing for Chicago in the 4th preseason game), and then Dorsey gets late 3rd quarter and 4th quarter. Anderson is outta here, we should cut him now, and let him find fruitful employment while he still can.

I'll agree. I'll agree with your post this time wholeheartedly. They have pretty much made it clear that they are going to go with Frye for the opener. I don't get why they are pussy-footing around with it. Pittsburgh isn't going to be surprised or caught off guard. They are not going to game plan any differently regardless of it being Frye or Anderson or Quinn or Dorsey. Anyone else watched any of the Pittsburgh games? They have looked fired-up.... and it's only preseason. They're going to be coming into the first game looking for blood.... and to make a statement. |
||||
|
Get Frye ready..... Tell Quinn to keep working hard (just in case).... Keep Lewis from getting hurt..... Get the WR's executing their routes and working on securing the catch..... get the O-Line in synch and executing their blocks right.... and get that defense primed up and fired up.
But get Frye ready.... they've pretty much made the commitment to him.... follow up on it and get everyone on the same page. |
||||
|
Oh..... that and get Frye in that flak jacket they had Quinn in in that game with Detroit. It looked like he was wearing two under his jersey or something, it was that damn big.(Did anyone else notice that thing?) I'm sure Frye would love the extra padding....
|
||||
Mike.. you're right! Frye is going to need it and a lot more from what I saw of the Steelers' defense in their game with the Eagles. They are coming with a sword in their teeth and blood in their eyes. They aim to make a HUGE statement. I wish we could face them mid-season instead of 1st game. Thomas will have to earn his bucks in this game! He gonna be busy! |
||||
I think the line will do well, honestly. I don't think they'll be swiss cheese or anything.... but Pittsburgh will still get in hits on Frye. I'm sure Frye is going to be expecting it to some degree... but it is the season opener and I think those first few hits are going to be some real eye-openers for Charlie. Pittsburgh just really seems like they are really fired up already and firing on all cylinders. |

It is obvious Frye will be the starter vs Pittsburgh. I seriously doupt that team is going to "worry" who our starter is. Does Romeo think he is gaining some edge in all this? It seems he must, and that worries me. He needs to show more confidence in Frye at this point. Come what may, Quin needs to learn from the sidelines for the first 6 weeks IMO.
|
|||
Nah. It's just Old Man Grump. He's always like that. He is right in one sense. Where is Romeo's mind? Seriously.... if he gets canned this season.... who takes over? I don't see Bill Cowher taking it. He'll take the Carolina job when their coach gets the boot. Who could come in and run the show and not tear apart the good stuff that has been done? I vote we find a way to resurrect Paul Brown from the dead. Maybe he'll go and take his revenge on Modell. |

The same Savage who drafted Quinn, unless it was his clone, was the same Savage who drafted Frye and had nothing but praise for Charlie. ESPN 3 years ago called Charlie Frye possibly the best QB in the Draft. Bernie Kosar has said time & time again not to count out Charlie Frye. I would consider Kosar an above average NFL QB and an extremely intelligent guy. To literally hand the job to Brady Quinn because of the Brady Quinn Media Campaign is absolutely "assinine". The Media has taken a biased approach in the QB battle and everyone has gotten sucked on it. Frye could have scored 5 touchdowns in the 1st quarter and the media still wouldnt be satisfied. Savage got Brady Quinn cheap this year because there was nothing as good coming out of next years draft. Lets not kid ourselves. If Savage doesnt draft Quinn in the first round he's a gaurenteed 2nd round or 3rd round pick. Yeah...I like Passion a whole lot. When Cleveland lost last year it was because there defense gave up 300 yards rushing to the Steelers or it was because Carson Palmer sliced and diced their secondary not once but twice. Cleveland lost last year because our offensive line gave up an average of 4.5 sacks per game 3rd Highest in the league. Cleveland lost last year because Braylon Edwards & company let passes bounce of their shoulders pads into their opponents hands. Brady Quinn would not have survived last year as the Browns QB. Thats why Charlie has earned the right this year to be the QB. Because of the Passion he has for the game. Because of the Passion he had when he was knocked senseless and and was still able to get up off the ground. Be real..the Browns werent 4-12 because of Frye. It was a team effort. I hope this year Frye has a Pro-Bowl year for all of you doom & gloomers.

Nice post, while I agree with you 100% a lot of people will not, but that is the beauty of the internet. I prefer a good discussion/argument over the juvenille postings that seem to prevail on a lot of forums. |
