Very poor conclusion - ignoring your own evidence. The best Giant offensive display this season was when he was gone. Numerous times today, Eli tried to force balls to him (once, in the 2nd qtr, in the end zone, when the play had no chance from the gitgo - and Eli failed to even look anywhere else for a defensive breakdown). Plaxico helps the "O" - Plaxico hurts the "O" - and I'm not convinced his plus-minus is as good as most local scribes do. I was one of the fans who thought the Gs might play better after Shockey went down last year. I don't have as strong a feeling where Burress is concerned, but I'm not as fearful of the possibility as most of you - and most of you quaked at the idea of losing Shockey, so your credibility, as a group, is nil....

You are right on. They can of course be better if they get the ball to Plaxico but without forgetting about their other receivers. Like you pointed out, their best offensive game was without him, when Eli wasn't trying to force it to Plaxico every other play. Eli has to consistently use all his receivers and resist forcing the ball to Plaxico against double teams, or in the case of the overused bomb down the sideline.

i don't care how good he is. I'm sick and tired of these animals being treated with kid gloves. In any other endeavor in the real world, this loser would be unemployable and probably in jail. Yeah, he's got so much to be defiant about...what garbage.

It seems as if the article is portraying Coughlin as a hard-ass, while giving Burress a "boys will be boys" pass.
Coughlin is the coach. He sets the rules. You, as a player, must follow them of suffer the consequences.
I applaud Coughlin for sticking to his guns and suspending him, and I applaud the rest of the Giants for respecting the system and their coach enough to stand behind both.
I'd love to see if there's any fallout over this.
On a semi-related note, the article mentions TO and how Plaxico hasn't reached that level yet. Well, he just hasn't had as much time with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent. Give him another season or two. You want to know where the egos of these big name sports starts come from? You want to know where the "kid gloves" treatment comes from? Look no further than the leeches sucking 10% of their contracts each and every year.

Very compelling evidence... if Shockey and Burress were the same player but they are NOT.. Burress played one of the best games ever by a receiver against Green Bay in the NFCS and followed it up by catching the winning TD in the SB.. also great games by the other receivers against the likes of Seattle.. Burress is far and away the Giants best receiver.. wake up! dud dew wrote: Very poor conclusion - ignoring your own evidence. The best Giant offensive display this season was when he was gone. Seems like Plax doesn't get it. He's making 7 million per year & he complains, bitches & moans like he's unhappy. add to that, his lack of apologizing, I mean he should be thankful to God that he's playing professionally & making beaucoup bucks & yet he always complains. Try working in the real world at 7.00 an hour & a boss & co workers that are tyrants. He wouldn't last 1 hour with his attitude. If the Ginats are going to go for their 2nd straight Super Bowl, Plax better start growing up otherwise he can join Jeremy Shockey, his malcontent buddy down in the Crescent City.j

Pittsburgh got tired of his act after 5 seasons and let him go. This is his 4th with the Giants. This is about his average shelf life with a team.
If Hixson, Manningham, or Smith develop over this and next season, Plax will be in another uniform after next year. Probably the Raiders or <chuckle> the Cowboys who seem to be the new Raiders in that regard.
The Giants are deep at WR, but that depth is unproven. The Giants are afraid if they let Plax go, and Toomer goes on the decline, they'll end up in need of two starting WR's at one time...They drafted Manningham, and Smith in anticipation of replacing Toomer, not Plax.
There is no doubt Plax is a pain the arse, and wearing out his welcome, but they need him now and will probably need him next year too.
And before you start talking about how easy it was to let Shockey go, consider the fact that the TE position isn't a major part of their offense. It's mostly a blocking position. The same is not true for WR.

Let's face it: Burress is a dirt bag. His over paid fellow players put up with him because they're all union members. BUt the day will come when Burress is no longer needed. And then he'll be tossed just like last nights garbage. For that's what he is: garbage

I was at sundays game and Plax wasn't much of a threat. Seemed like he was dogging it. The similarities to the Shockey thing are pretty amazing. It seems like Eli is always trying to force the ball in there.

Good points, but is the blame on Plax. Before the Cleavland game Eli WAS sharing the ball effectively amongst his receivers, however the last 2 weeks he has tried to force the ball to Burress. It's funny how many posters want Plax gone, but if he goes who's the number 1 receiver other teams fear? Smith, Moss, or Hixon? I don't think so.
