I like the part of "Developing A QB involves enduring games like the one Orton played" I am glad he is at least getting a chance to develop that is one more chance to develop that Rex Grossman never got.....That is unless one considers 8 egular season games started (going into 2006) the barometer for development.

I said it last week and I will say it again Orton is a big mistake at QB he cannot throw the ball past 15 yards and be accurate. Again he was lucky not to have two Int. last week he could have had 3 of them and was lucky again. Can not anyone see this guy is a joke he could be at right now with 5 int. 1 fumble and 0 touchdowns. I am sorry but I would rather have grossman then orton atleast he can throw the bal to a receiver past 15 yards and obviously they both are bad decision makers but atleast we might of had some touchdowns thru the air.

Lets give Orton more time guys!!!! He has only played in 21 career games and is still finding his way. He looks so much better than his rookie season i mean come on. He averaged 130 yards per game as a rookie and now he is at 140. That is marked improvement. His play is efficient and steady, no TD's no consistent plays.
You anti Rex fans are killing me. Kyle is what we thought we is, servicable back up who knows the system. Is good for 130 yards per game and again was lucky he didn't have 2 Ints against Carolina. I called it before the season started. I said Rex would be given a chance at halftime vs the Bucs. I may be wrong on that but it looks like a definite possibility. Hey Orton fans, welcome to life being a Bears fan. You are now used to the crap Rex fans had to go through and are saying the same things we have been saying for years. Drop passes, untimely fumbles, play calling are the problems, not the QB. Your hatred for Rex just didn't allow you to see what the real problems with the Bears Off were. At least we have a running game again and i can't wait to see a QB in there that can take advantage of a play action pass. |

Time you realize that as other teams will get better the Bears will stay the same and therefore get worse. No talk by the die hard Bear's homers. No air attack. Seventeen unanswered points. Boo hoo baby! Good thing Hester got the green when he did.

Orton is like 15th in the league in passes over 20 yards (4).The league leader only has 9 I dont know what all the whining is about ? We know we dont have any burners at receiver and the turnovers by Olsen killed us . We lost the the game by losing key points which are the core for us winning football games . TURNOVERS and FIELD POSITION.
|

If Kyle is lucky he didnt throw two ints what is Grossman who is guaranteed to throw two ints as well as fumble a few snaps and has no ability to escape the rush ?Amazed at how many people think the Bears can win consistently trying to be the greatest show on turf with a QB who refuses to do anything but look for the bomb like . I think it would be a lot easier for Orton to develop the long ball than it would be for Rex to develop larger hands ,grow taller, and throw the short ball. |

Fire whoever called those last two plays, because my mother at 75 knew better then that. She called the coach an IDIOT for loosing the game after the defense played their as off. Looks like a long season of almost wins. All we need is new owners, a coaching staff, and a QB. Looks like the defense will have to score at least 14 points and special team 14 points a game for this team to win. Did you hear lovie say the defense needs to make three turnovers. Hey lovie, tell the offense not to turn the ball over three times, and we might just win some games. Go RAIDERS.

Grossman fans are..........fools.

Give Rex Grossman the running attack we have right now with Forte and the Bears offense will put up over 20 a game. With Mr.Game Manager Orton we look alot like the Vikings(all Adrian Peterson). Look Rex can stretch the field and Orton cannot bottom line. I know he turns it over and makes mistakes but he is always a threat to make the big throw. Orton is not. The accuracy on his deep passes is horrible! The Panthers put 8 or 9 in the box like everyone thought and dared Orton to beat them deep and he couldn't! Teams are going to defend the Bears the same way all year long!

I'll admit I've never, ever been an Orton fan. The guy looks perpetually confused on and off the field. True, he will rarely lose a game for us (although the more he plays, the more unlikely that statement gets), but he won't be a difference-maker either. The Bears made a HUGE mistake letting Berrian go. Now the best receiver they have is Hester, and they start a QB who can't take advantage of the deep threat.
I don't know if Grossman is the answer; he's had enough time to prove that and failed. But he is the best QB the Bears have on their roster and it's a joke that he's not starting. |
||||
|
We are fine at recievers. We have Booker, Bradley, Davis, Loyd and Hester. All every bit as capable as Berrian was. We have a very good running back combo with Forte and Jones. We have great tight ends with Olsen and Clark (yeah I know he fumbled twice, but im willing to give him a break, would have been tough for anyone to hold on to the ball Chris Harris punched out).
But our QB SUCKS!!!!! Orton is so weak at the position. He does nothing for us. We need someone who can make some plays at the position. Every time he throws the long ball I cringe. |

Orton is GARBAGE... Typical Orton on pace for less than 2000 yards passing oh yeah this guy has learned soo much being on the bench. It's wakeup time people your offense can't put up 10 points and expect to win games. Also how bad was Ortons audibles? I think every time he audibled they got stuffed at the line.
The O in Orton stands for his total touchdown number this season. The ton in Orton will represent his interseptions. Go Captian Checkdown Jr.! Soon the running game will go out the window as teams start stacking the box since we have no deep threat even if they did I doubt we could get him the ball anyway... |
||||
|
"We had chances to put the game away, and in a tight game we didn't make the play and they did," Orton said. At least Rex would have used the word, "I". So, the defense plays well enough to win, special teams plays well, and the running game was good. What does that leave us? Orton. He can't throw deep, can't throw short, and mismanages the game on top of that.

Never been an Orton fan, and never will. This is why. He's good at little short throws, but eventually a defense will adjust and pick those apart and force the QB to go deeper. This is what happened, and the results are painfully apparent.
This is where Grossman shined, but his downfall is inconsistency and poor mechanics. So here we are again...Chicago fans that have nothing to look forward to except a defense. Even our defense tired Sunday, and that'll happen when you are on the field for MOST of the 2nd half. Maybe the Bears coaches should do a Kyle-Rex combo. Other than that, I don't have the answer, and apparently neither do the coaches. It's going to be another long year for us Bears Fans! |

Also, teams know Rex has the deep ball. This could loosen up the defense enough to give Forte a little more breathing room. We finally have a running back, but Carolina seemed to know when he was running, and played tight because they knew Orton wasn't passing beyond 10 yards (not accurately anyway).
I say that without Rex at the helm, we have NO CHANCE for Post-Season play. |

1 Rex never got a chance... Are you insane... Judging Orton after 2 games is a Joke. We won the first game... We were in the second game until the end... Orton's completion ratio this year is 60 percent Grossman's was never that high. He's QB rating is 76... Grossman's was never that high. This is the second game... At least give this guy until the middle of the year before you hang him. The first week he was a little short on some passes. This week he was a little long on some of his passes. Maybe in a few weeks he'll be on. Don't forget we wasted 3 weeks of training camp on retard boy... And if Orton doens't make it... Lets try Hanie... Because REX is not an NFL qb... Oh I know Rex lovers he can throw the long ball. He can also get intercepted, He can also fumble... He can also get sacked... And once you bring him in and he gets sacked like he always does you'll start screaming the line sucks the line sucks.... |

I don't love Rex...I love winning. Also, when you make absurd statements that Grossman'd rating was "never that high" you lose any credibility that you may have had in future comments. Grossman had ratings in the mid-100. Unfortunately he also had a ZERO rating for a game...hence my comment of being inconsistent. I'm not hanging Orton after two games...I'm hanging him after seeing him play these two games, as well as the previous ones from the past few years. Orton has NEVER thrown the deep ball accurately. His first long pass against Carolina was seriously under-thrown, and he's fortunate our receiver was able to stop his route, turn around and catch it. Orton also threw into tripple coverage, and I'm still figuring out how it wasn't intercepted. I suppose that three defenders trying to catch it caused it to fall to the ground. Orton did what Orton does...manages the game. He will ALWAYS do this. When he was our QB the year we made it to the playoffs, it was our defense that won the games for us. I'm saying this will be true again. No matter what you (or anyone) says, the fact is that Orton can't throw deep. I'm not a Rex-fanboy, just someone that believes that without a deep passing game, the running game suffers (it's simple football physics). When our offense can't stay on the field to score, eventually the defense will tire and give up points (more football physics). Sorry for stating the obvious! |

Good post, but it's not just the inaccurate deep balls, it's that he doesn't have the arm strength to throw 15 to 20 yard outs. People are bashing Turner's playcalling, but his hands are tied with his Orten's limited abilities. |
