You said you can mess with any player but Matt Stover?!!! I am a true ravens fan but when it comes to messing with players I would say that Matt is the one to mess with. When you've got players like Ed Reed and Ray Lewis to choose from or Matt Stover I thank I would be safer picking Lewis and Reed. Who would you actually pick? Like I said, I would most definitely pick Ed Reed and Ray Lewis over a 20 year vet like Matt Stover. You say he still makes those game winning field goals? I didn't see Matt Stover make any game winning field goals when we played the Stealers! But I did see Ray Lewis and Ed Reed make tackles and picks when need be. So if you are anything of a Ravens fan I think you might just wanna change your mind.

Best of luck to Matt. Sure, kick Stover out but keep all the criminals. Typical Baltimore cry baby BS, they have to blame the fact that they suck on something, why not the kicker.

At least he doesn't have to tolerate idiots running around in purple camo anymore.

Totally disagree with this story...Stover's range didn't extend past 40 yards--he was about 50% on kicks that far this past season (contrast to past seasons where he was over 75%, sometimes near 100%). I love Stover as much as the next guy, but at some point it has to be about production and not about sentimenality. Ray Lewis is the symbol of the Raven's franchise, NOT Stover--the assertion that his loss would be greater (or even upset more people) than Ray Lewis' is absurd. Stover was a great contributor and a loyal team member, but at some point you've got to say "it's just business."

I am sad to see Stover go, however last season we saw his diminished ability become costly. A 43 yard field goal was considered to be testing his range, and with a younger offense, we need a 43 to be just short of automatic. This showed its head a lot in the regualr season battle with Tennessee. He simply does not have the great leg anymore, and with the Ravens with so many Free-agents this year signing a kicker who is slipping does not make sense. We have a young leg (does all our kickoffs, and long field goals) and its time for him to get his chance. Stover we love you and will miss you, but the economic and abilities sometimes show the harsh business side of football

i think stover is a great clutch player but now a days you need the guy who can kick 55 yard feild goal and the way the nfl is as far as the cap we need to replace some older players with younger stronger player to be able to play in the nfl thank you matt for all you done for the ravens and you a great player but as a player you know how the game goes wish you well see in the hall of fame
