A question:
Rex Grossman is a professional athlete. He makes his living, a very good one, from maximizing the use of his physical abilities. Why would it take a professional athlete so many years to get themselves into the self-proclaimed "best shape of their life"?
Maybe that's one of the big differences between those who succeed at that level and those who don't - what they do in the off-season.

Time for Lovie to make a decision, and I say we go with Rex. Let's not forget, we did go to a Super Bowl with him as the quarterback two years ago!

In fairness, Uncle Jose, it's a relative "Best shape of my life." Rex I'm sure was in shape before--just as Orton is in shape now. If Orton were to go to an intensive camp and manage to lose some fat and add muscle, he'd be in even better shape, but that doesn't mean he's not in shape now.

Rex saying he's in the best shape of his life isn't an indictment of his work ethic, it's a testament to it.

Uncle Jose -

There will always be some point for every player where they are in "the best shape of their life". That it comes at different points for different players is really not that surprising to me.

And what would our opinion be of a player who after six years in the league said "you know, I've never been in as good shape as I was as a rookie"? Not very good, I suspect.

Your last sentence about what they do in the off-season being a big determiner of success certainly seems to be right on the mark however. Whether it pays off for Grossman remains to be seen.

All those alleged Bears' fans that go to the game to boo the team in preseason games should forfeit their season tickets. Why would you boo your team during the preseason? I mean, they are practicing! Do not want to see them playing, don't go to the stadium!

This is Rex's year to prove that it was the line and running game holding him back, not the fact that he is too short, can't see the field, stupid and inconsistant.

Best shape of his life ... well since he has been injured every year he has played in the pros you can't get much worse. Yes according to him and the Bears, Lovie, he has had injuries every year.

I have been pulling for Rex for a while now. Good to see he worked hard and is in as he says "the best shape of his life". I am assuming he is speaking physically. For the situation he is in he needs to be at his best mentally. He says the booing and the critcs don't bother him, but I really thinks it does. On top of that he is entering a contract year! That is alot of pressure!!! Glad they did not start him the first preseason game here!!

What we need to do beginning Sept 7 is fight, scratch and claw our way to 10 wins. That will get us a division title or wild card. Here's how: Home wins - Tampa, Minnesota, Detroit, Tennessee, New Orleans, Green Bay. Road Wins - Carolina, Atlanta, St. Louis, Houston. Notice I don't even have us sweeping the Lions. If they lose to Carolina week 2 it's uh-oh time.

Well, I guess that settles it - Grossman is in the "best shape of his life" so, he's the starter.
Man, I'm glad the QB controversy is over with! Next, we need to find somebody who can game-plan. I wonder how much longer the Bears owners are going to put up with an offence that is as ridiculous as ours?

Damani-- I really don't think that the boos bother him.
I'm sure he doesn't like them. And I know he'd rather be cheered as we all would, but when someone constantly says something negative about you, you learn to get over that.
You can't and you normally don't let other people hold you down from success.

Also just because he is in the best shape of his life that doesn't mean he hasn't made effort before.

1- of the greatest things about Pro-football is you are not "Married" to a guy like Basketball, where the Bulls are "essentially" stuck with a mope like Hughes and his HUGHE contract.
It's time the Bears ended the Rex Grossman experiment. I'm so tired of Rex and his excuses, fake optimism and the such. rex reminds me of a crack-head, he always knows the "RIGHT" things to say, tells you what he thinks you wanna hear. You give him your confidence/money then they let you down.

i hope rex proves his critics wrong and plays out of his skin. i think that this being his contract year he will play within his capabilities and take us back to the big one.we may not win the nfc championship but with all the pundits writing us off we could surprise everyone just like the giants did with a mutch criticed qb eli manning dont forget we have a good backup in kyle orton (check out his starting record) i just hope the fans dont boo if things go a bit pear shape during a game and have a bit of patience. i hope to take in the game with tennessee in chicago as a win for the bears will be a good measure as how the rest of the season will pan out

Stepeo... Old Chap. Ain't you tired of hoping and praying Rex get his "stuff" together??? Wouldn't you Love to see a "Quality" QB playing for the Bears? I mean 1- you put out there and he gives you maximum effort every game?
I think the Bears brain trust(and I use the term LIGHTLY) are all ready looking to next year. This 2008 version of the Bears has a lot of holes in it. I, for 1- will be EXTREMELY surprised if this team wins 6 games.

Sorry Stepeo, I have to be "realistic" about our prospects...

Rex is not now, nor will ever be, a "great" quarterback. He just passes as a "good" quarterback.

To win the Superbowl you need a great quarterback and a solid team behind him.

Ain't happenin this year...

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Aquarius

You will not be satisfied in your work place, but give it some time and things will fall into place. Those in the construction business should get some good news. Aquarian homebodies will find things rather hectic and may develop a headache by the end of the day, so you should avoid negative thinking as much as possible.
