Bears order troubled Harris to sit 1 game

Full story: Chicago Tribune

As disappointed as Tommie Harris was with the Bears' decision to suspend him Thursday for Sunday's game at Detroit, the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle was equally disappointed in himself.

No surprise about Lovie. If it wasn't for the super bowl he would be gone. He still should be gone, Tommie is right. The suspension isn't going to help him. Should have asked whats going on.

He's been nothing but an injured bust every year after his rookie year. Big talk, big money, and no production. What a waste of money!

You poor, poor millionaire baby.... I feel so bad for you...As others in this country find a way to survive day to day this clown makes up lame excuses for being an immature moron. Just another case of the "all about me" attitude of today's athlete!

I don't think he should've been suspended. Granted, team comes first, but sometimes being a family man requires resposibilities that you can't ignore. I would much rather him handle his buisness then come back 100% than try to jugle all these problems because it obviously effects his play. I also beleive that he should've kept the team on tap of what was going on instead of expecting people to wonder whats goin on.

when are people going to learn god isn't going to help you? you might as well be worshipping darth vader or willy wonka. how many of these athletes keep praising an idea that isn't helping them mentally? go seek medical treatment or talk to somebody. jesus christ...prayer isn't going to help. maybe you can vince young can go to therapy and bond with each other tommie.

and no offense to harris but, if he wants to compare problems with a baby mama and the child not living with him, be sure to call me and you'll rethink how bad you have it. be grateful for what you have dude...then realize your kid is alive and well, and so are you. thats what harris needs to focus on, not some stupid "rule" in a dumb book that was written by people you'll never meet and doesn't have an ounce of truth to it. c'mon...

Wow, Tommie, your boss suspended you because you badmouthed one of the organization's decisions publicly and then argued with your boss about it?!

You realize that in the real world, your actions would yield a similar punishment or even lead to being fired.

Grow up, grow a pair, shut up and do your job. That's what the rest of us in the working world do, you little girl.

Actually I worked with Tommi on a fund raiser and he is a nice guy. Why do people believe because someone has a special skill or talent that person is any different than the guy or girl walking down the street? Same emotions, problems, challenges and the only difference is the guy is recognized when he walks into the grocery store. Hopefully he will get himself together because no one else will.

Another young player spoiled by giving him a huge contract, now he can pout, act childish and still collect his pay.
When will the teams learn not to panic and reward players[and coaches] prematurely?
Now is the time for the owners to reopen the labor contract and institute pay for play. That is what most workers have-if you do your job you get paid, if you do your job well you get more pay, if you are excellent in your job you may get a lifetime contract. The Pro football players get huge bonus's for having played well in college while the owners take a gamble on whether that will carry over in the pros. Frequently young players end up as Cedric Benson, Rashad Salaam, Curtin Ennis, Rex Grossman, Cade McNown, you know the list and the owners have been taken advantage of by these poor decisions. Open the contract!

To 'Gimy from Indy'. Just in case you ever run into a 'book' I suggest you read 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, 4-7. It talks about something that seems to be a void in your life - "The excellence of love." If you say none of what you will read there has "an ounce of truth" then you are an even more pitiful being than what your diatribe displayed.

As far as Tommie Harris, he obviously made a mistake. It bothers him and it has effected his work. While nobody wants his/her personal life brought in the open, as a high paid member of an NFL team he is under more scrutiny than most people. I believe Lovie making this public may even help Tommie. No drugs, no late night carousing, no weapons, just an emotional time in the life of a young man who is a public figure. Just like 'Gimy' wrote of the people who wrote that 'book', I will never meet Tommie Harris. I've always thought he is a good man and he will be just fine partly because he does believe in 1 Corinthians, ch 13, 4-7.

Tommie just got a reality check. Being a father is real tough. And bad mouthing for making a decision to cut a player who can't stay on the field is not a good idea. You shouldn't be worried about the suspension ruining your reputation, you already damaged it when you decided to go public with how you felt about your tea, for cutting Bradley. Coaches don't like it when players go and show disapproval team decisions.
But here's another reality check for you. You're not the only father in the league, or in the world, that had a child out of wedlock. But instead of dwelling on that, how about dwelling more on what you're going to do now. Move forward. You're 25 years old.
For those who know Lovie, he's always been that "You can come talk to me" type. But when your actions are so bad that it has a potential to disrupt the team, actions must be taken. So I applaud Lovie for showing some backbone and suspending him. I'm pretty sure if he ever wanted to talk to Lovie man-to-man about life and being a father, he would be there. But you are too grown to be acting like that. You've made your bed and now you have to sleep in it. Stay prayerful and keep your faith. God is a forgiving God.

Too too bad Tommy. If you were so concerned about not being married you should either married her or not has sex with her. Very simple. And your no different then anybody else out there. If you bash your employer, they will come after you. If your are injured and not showing up for treatment, something will happen. I know hard to believe a pro athlete has to follow some rules.
