Between Turner and false starts, the Bears were lucky to get 23. Grossman was throwing the ball well and Benson running well so why screw up a drive with a Hester reverse everyone saw coming, or pull a guard on 4th and 1? Or how about a false start to kill a drive...speaking of kill, is that was Fred Miller was trying to do to Rex? Rex was getting killed back there and if it wasn't for his semi-nimble feet and compsure (did I just say that about Rex? wow), Rex was able to escape what could have been an 8 sack day.

watch the "beautifully designed" 4th and inches run by Benson. Quick-hitting run play where the offensive line fires out against a goal line defense that's going to try and penetrate, would be the obvious choice. Instead, Turner gets "cute", let's have a slow developing play with guards pulling to lead through a hole. End result? 3 of 5 ofeensive linemen (and a tight end), on their butts 3 yards in their own backfield on 4th and inches. Yeah... it's Benson's fault.(rolls eyes)

The coaching staff has no idea how to manage a game. They don't make adjustments during the flow of the game. They had a hot hand early then put it on the bench because they had a "plan". 4 & 6 is a great plan.

Ron Turner sucks.
very unimaginative on offense and should be fired immediatly. should let Grossman call his plays for rest of season. Nothing to loose now.

It is a truism of military and business strategy that actions must adapt in the face of the opponent. Rigid thinking is not creative thinking; nor is it adaptive thinking.

When you find success, you do not stop doing what you have been doing because of some plan. That is nothing more than a belief that your plan is better than your current results. Such an approach is arrogant or stupid. Take your pick.

I'm glad you saw that too. The first thing I said when that play was over was look at our O-Line picking themselves up off the turf after the Seattle defense blew them backwards. It was a like a bomb going off. Everyone in the stadium knew what the Bears were going to do there. From the top down, that offense is terrible and predictable. Turner doesn't set up anything and gives the team little chance to really be productive out there. Not to mention, when you put Hester on the field for one play and you give him the ball on that one play, the defense is going to win that battle every time because he is a key guy that they're going to pay attention to out there.

They should have scrapped the script and gone with Benson until he revealed his usual self.

What has happened to the defense that was so great last year? Getting rid of Ron Rivera after the Super Bowl last year was clearly a big mistake, as the defense has been awful this year. The coaches have to take much of the blame for this degredation.

You know reading this article, offensive coordinator Ron Turner is the DUMBEST COACH on the bears.

Turner is the "monkey wrench" in the entire Bears coaching staff. You see Benson was doing well and all that dumb brick Turner talks about is "oh we wanted Adrian Petersen to run the ball". Oh man how stupid is that?

Again and I will say it again. When this season ends, the Bears personnel department have to sit down, get a "gut check" and realize that Ron Turner can't coach worth squat. After that FIRE RON TURNER! Get another offensive coordinator such as fomer New York Giants Head coach Jim Fassell or the Denver Broncos assistant head coach/QB coach Michiel Hemingdeiger to be the OC of the Bears.

Look at this man Ron Turner. He destroyed the University of Illinois football program for 6 years. It took Ron Zook 3 seasons to undo the damage Ron Turner did to Illinois. Turner's college record is 36 wins and 57 losses. If the man can't do it at the college level, why are the Bears still dealing with this quack of an offensive coordinator? Fire Ron Turner please fire this man and get a real man to coordinate the offense. Ron Turner is nothing but a "mouse" in the NFL coaching ranks, a "guppie" and a inept offensive coordinator.

Taking Benson in and out in and out and in and out just to give a mediocre Peterson some playing time is so stupid. Heck, it is beyond stupidity. It is just atrocious that you have Benson finally...finally getting good and Ron Turner with his retarded self just pulls him out thus destroying th Bears running game.

The Bears MUST MUST MUST fire Ron Turner.

Poor job of coaching by Smith. He is the head coach and is responsible for product he is putting on the field. What the hell is Turner doing? He says after every game that he should have done something different. This time it was he should have kept running Benson. He always states the obvious after the game. When is he going to realize what he needs to do during the game? What about the defensive coordinator? He is really doing a good job!!!! Where's Rivera ?
Pathetic job and it all comes down to the coaching with Smith at the head. When is someone going to realize Smith is not a head coach. I am sick of it and I think a lot of fans are too.

How do these Turner boys keep getting hired? When has either been that successful?

I didn't get to see the game. Has Benson's pass blocking improved? Would that have anything to do with limited his touches when playing from behind? Glad to see he finally broke a long one. They really need to figure out if he is the guy or not. I say if the playoffs are out of the question, put him in. The only way to improve is to play. Let him leave it all out on the field.

Peterson is productive and has been an outstanding assest (and a great value) to the Bears as a backup and on special teams. But the Bears have to know if they can justify Benson's salary and where they need to go in the draft. Run Benson.

Bruce, listen closely the next time Turner is interviewed. I've noticed a pattern:

When discussing another loss he typically says failures come down to "execution" or some other deficiencies by the guys on the field.

It's never "a bad game plan," or "a poor call by me" or "I should have called a screen pass there."

The guy is all about self-preservation. Check it out.

Ron Turner, please resign now. The only thing keeping this team from an 8-2 or 7-3 record is your play calling and game plan.

Oh I see that.

Look how he resigned at University of Illinois. He knew he was going to get fired so he resigned before University of Illinois did it.

Now at the same time Coach Lovie Smith was going to fire their previous OC Terry Shea, which they did. Then all the sudden, here comes Ron Turner running up to Halas Hall to take the Bears offensive coordinator, hence making Ron Turner the OC for the second time on the Bears.

What perplexed me about the Ron Turner hiring was that the Bears did not interview anyone else. Ron Turner applied for the Bears offensive coordinator job and within less than a week he got the job for the second time.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Based on his senseless comments after the games, he is preserving his job. He knows that the NFL offensive coordinator job is way way way over his head.

Turner needs to go - his play calling is incredibly predictable. I'm equally unimpressed with Babich - 330+ yards in the air in a must-win situation is unacceptable.

Offensively it's the line as much as anything. Benson and Peterson have to make their own holes most of the time. The play calling is very predictable. It's like they (the coaching staff) think that the opponent doesn't study the tape. Plus the QB's seem to have little freedom to audible to get out of a bad play call.

The defense... Force the Bears to play nickel. No worries. Forget about McBride, he's a rookie. The safeties are abysmal. The real reason that the Bears are mediocre is the defense. That's enough for now.

Right on!! It's time for the other AP to turn up the heat! Cedric getting hurt is the best thing to happen to the running game.
