doesn't the author know that someone can perform like crap one day and like Unitas the next but just because he is Unitas like, doesn't mean he won't slip and be Boller like the next day. Practice is way overanalyzed on a minute by minute basis.

At this point wouldnt it make more sense to just cut Dan Cody and give his roster spot to some other player that can stay healthy for more than 5 minutes.

"Troy Smith appeared to have vastly improved. His first two passes during full-team exercises were deep throws that had touchdown written all over them if wide receiver Mark Clayton had caught the balls. Smith's only miscue was a well-played pump fake that ended up in the arms of cornerback Ronnie Prude." -- Preston

Let's see, Smith threw two incompletions (blamed on veteran receiver Mark Clayton), and an interception described as a "well-played pump fake by Prude" and he's vastly improved. Kyle Boller thew a long TD pass, but he "avoided mistakes" and the TD completion was Prude's fault.

According to Mikey, Prude is Deion Sanders in his prime when Smith is throwing, but an idiot when Boller is at QB. And Clayton needs to be cut if he doesn't haul in everything Smith throws. If he drops a couple of Boller passes, that's different.

Sounds like a fair analysis to me.

I agree with most of what you said but I thought Edward Lee wrote this not Preston, even though it sounds like something he would say. If you notice the part about the QB, Mikey hasn't written a paragraph quite that long in his life.

My apologies. I stand corrected. It was such vintage "Preston", I admit I was surprised to discover Lee could be that horrible and biased.

I had to go back 3 times to make sure it wasn't Preston ... I hope Mikey isn't rubbing off on the other guys, that's all we need.

So all week long, Troy's practices have been criticized as crap, and the analysis was RIGHT-ON! But this day he has a good practice and the analysis is all wrong. It's biased!

HUH??? Is it me???

Were you there? Did you witness something different...if so, WHAT DID YOU SEE? TELL US!

Or maybe, just maybe...you're the ones who are biased, here - posting just to hate on Smith.

Nahhh, that couldn't be!

But waiting until we actually observe, and then writing something factual to backup what we post is probably out of the question. That would make us look so much more informed and less ignorant.

Crazy, huh! I mean, this stuff, so far, has been sad and empty (except Matt's Cody comment. Got to admit that ship has probably sailed - I got my own cut countdown going on him. How many chances and how much longer can we afford on this guy?).

Troy Smith had put together an unbelievable string of games for Ohio State before he laid an egg in the national championship game. Had he even been mediocre in that game, there's little doubt he would have been drafted in the first round or two and have been given more opportunity. The kid grew tremendously as a quarterback over his 2 years of starting, evolving from a runner to a pocket passer. Ravens would be wise to overlook the fact he is a a few inches shorter than the prototype and give him the ball. If Harbaugh is bold enough to make this call, give Smith a half season to improve, and nobody will ever look back.

You know what you are getting with Boller. He has the height and strong arm and the ability to make some plays, but he makes too many bad decisions. He's not going to get any better. He reminds me of Rob Johnson - it boils down to the fact he just doesn't have a good enough feel for the position.

If Flacco couldn't beat out Tyler Palko at Pitt and had to transfer to Delaware, how good could he be?

I think the Ravens are overlooking his height. The problem is that, so far, he's stunk up the field. No one is sold on Boller, but unless Troy Smith really steps his game up to be, at least, on par with Boller he'll be sitting on the bench. We know what we have with Boller and it isn't good. If the trend continues for these two quarterbacks, I'd be surprised if we didn't sign some free agent quarterback.

You may be right about Flacco. There were red flags all over him and we really stretched to pick him in the first round. Hopefully, the Ravens front office knows what they're doing.

With the QB's struggling, offensive tackle injuries, McGahee having surgery, Suggs holdout, and the injuries to Reed and McAlister it's not looking good for the season.
