I can't blame him either but I don't agree with how he is treating the situation. His contract is up AFTER this year so play your entire contract out before you start complaining. The big thing here is that he wants to go to Arizona to be with Whiz and Grimm and they would take him in a heartbeat which makes him complain all ther more about being in Pittsburgh. Another problem is all these guards who have actually done nothing getting these big fat contracts with teams that will most likely not make the playoffs during their contracts. I have to question the Steelers organization as to why they are not really deling with Faneca but I do realize they are concerned with re-signing Ben and Polamalu. We'll see how this plays out and I do hope that the Steelers and Faneca can come to an agreement because I feel that he has done alot for the team every year he has played. Defintely has never been a slacker. The funny thing about this is that if you notice from previous players that have left the team they never really seem to make much more of a name for themselves except, of course, Rod Woodson and we will have to see how J-Peezy does in Miami.

I think that if you are a true Steelers fan or player, you are there for the love of football and the team. Players cannot keep basing their pay on some other player from another team. I think that $3.5 is a lot of money in a year. There are millions of people wishing they could make $20,000 a year and these players are complaining about $3.5 million or even $1 million. Grow up. Either play for the team or play for the love of football, but don't play for the money.

Great logic (and I feel exactly the same way) unfortunately, it's never gonna happen. They can, and WILL keep basing it on the salary, because it's all just big business now (and because they CAN). It doesn't matter to them if they're making TEN million a year--if the next guy's making 15, then the first guy wants to make 16. If you could count on ONE hand the players who play where they are out of nothing more than loyalty, then you'd probably be doing good. Could the rest of us live comfortably on 3.5 mil a year? Ummm, I think so... Could THEY live comfortably on that a year? I'm sure they do--but more than enough is just NEVER enough for NFL players nowadays--they don't even live in reality anymore--they live a fairy tale life in a fantasy world, and we can only look on in more shock and disbelief as the salaries just keep getting more preposterous. |

I didn't hear Faneca complaining when he was winning the Super Bowl!!!! Suck it Faneca. Mike Webster was the greatest Center in Pro Football and he didn't finish his career in Pittsburgh....Pack it and back it big boy.....There will be another stud come right behind you and play for another 10 years.......Thanks for the memories though...
