Only in the most basic sense they were human beings. Were there no shoe shine or bellman jobs available to them? Two losers this world will not miss.

In a neighborhood like where the condo is, no one called the police at the sound of 2 gunshots? Also, one doesn't have to be at the scene in order to be involved in the crime. And it's pretty hard to imagine someone who's in a life of serious crime would fall for a "Nigerian"-type scheme. There has to be a trustworthy connection driving it.
