Oakland Raiders turn in abysmal performance against Saints

Did we even have a Defense in the first half? I thought we had a stellar passing D and Drew Brees threw all over us. Now I kind of wonder about where we really stand on defense as a whole. I mean they've been emphasizing stop the run, but the Saints didn't even try to run against us; they were passing. Every time we did something good, something bad would set us back and it was like "Great, here we go again." Oh and I think they gave Michael Bush a big slap in the face by pulling him in favor of McFadden after he only got 1 carry.

I think Bush was scheduled to play the first quarter and the Saints had the ball most of the time; much like Garcia's playing time against SF. As you say, the defense is a concern. It is also concerning that Russell still can not sense the rush which results in the turnover. Why not tuck the ball away and run the ball back to the line of scrimmage? Also disappointing? It appears Murphy has never been told that fighting for extra yards in the NFL leads to turnovers, injury or two extra yards. The enthuisiasm is appreciated, but take the 18 yards and secure the ball; 20 yards is not going to make a difference. The only exception is fighting for a first down on a third down play. |
