Yawn. Yet another story about the pathetic clowns. Keeping DA as starting QB? Looks like yet another hit-or-miss
season. I'm standing by my prediction of 6-10 next season.(Just like the clowns to end the season 10-6 and NOT go to the playoffs. Of course, it's their own damn fault.) |

CLEVELAND...WE HAVE A PROBLEM! We have been without a quarterback for so long, we fall in love with the first guy that can make all the throws. But, there is a reason Derek isn't playing anywhere else. BRAIN FARTS! He has always had them, and probably always will. I was never a Notre Dame, nor a Brady Quinn fan. Go back and watch the body of work of these two guys to this point and you will see Quinn IS our future. They say he can't win the big one, but his job was to score points, which he did against ALL opponents. Derek is just as likely to throw a game away as win it. Our offense just needs a manager that won't give the game away, week after week, and to this point, Derek hasn't been able to do that, on any level. He has talent, but without his mistakes, we would be in the playoffs now. Looking back, what if you had Derek when Kosar came along, and Bernie never got his chance. Quinn is closer to Kosar's smarts and touch, with a stronger arm. I am not saying Derek is a horrible quarterback. I'm just saying, how many games can you afford to give away each year. Look back and you see he has ALWAYS done this, while Quinn has NEVER done this. No body can see the future, but I truly think that 1 year, with a healthy Quinn, with the offense we had this year, and Derek would be our backup, and that would be a good place to have him. He would be a good one to have, but he just isn't our best option available. Our team can make anyone look good right now, and 10 wins are great, just not when you could have, and should have had more. Let's not settle for less, because of a poor past. Let's be the best we can be, at all positions, while we have the opportunity to be great. This was a playoff team, that was robbed by mistakes. They certainly weren't all Derek's, but what would we be without his.

Romeo is an idiot. This past year, there was an 'open' QB competition in the preseason. When it became clear BQ won that competition with superior performance, then the story changed to 'the Quarterback'(wouldn't even call him by name) did not know the offense well enough to start because of his contract holdout. Now, even though both are 'high quality' players, there will be no open competition for the starting spot.
Phil Savage has a real problem on his hands. If he traded away this year's first round draft pick for a backup QB, he's a fool. I see this as starting the final erosion between RAC and Savage. Let's hope Parcells wants him REAL bad. |

Derek Anderson will be Romeo Crennel's QB, but at Miami. He'll be traded for the Number 1 draft pick.
Romeo is joining The Big Tuna in Miami after the SB. The Browns play 8 playoff teams next year so don't expect another 10-6 season. Romeo knows when the gettin is good and his value is high. |
||||
Dont expect The Squeelers to go 10 -6 either. |
||||
Derek Anderson for the Number 1 draft pick!! Or did you mean Romeo for Number 1!? Both are splitting my sides, and I LIKE those two. Ha ha!! |
||||
|
Savage will tell us what the story soon! Romeo is the puppet and Phil is the marionette and the press well, they want to be the first to know. I say pay Derek his due and when and if he comes up lame Brady can show his game and still Clev can have the best of both situations. Lerner can afford the Montana,Young syndrome with ease.
Good things aren't cheap. Except maybe a stadium paid for with sin tax and no one can smoke! |

i think that cleveland will have a new head coach next season - because one is needed
|
||||
Dead on the money! |

Your welcome to smoke anywhere you want as long as it doesn't violate the Ohio smoking ban. Go ahead kill yourself with Brown lung cancer. |

---------- As it stands right now ...I agree ...You are probably right about 6-10 ...Several things that the papers are not talking about reveal our soft underbelly... 1) Defense rated Last in the NFL....You don't get championships without Defense. 2) We played a Very soft Schedule 3) We played in the weakest conference in the NFL 4) We only beat one team with a winning record.. 5) We don't have a #1 Draft pick 6) Our Schedule will be much tougher next year..Much tougher. 7) Every game we won this year was very close and could have gone either way. 8) We didn't give Quinn any playing time...As a result we go into next year blind about what to do with Anderson. That was a huge mistake by RAC.. 9) Assuming we sign Lewis who has us over a barrel...We do not have a proven Backup that can handle the RB job full time...Wright sure can't, he doesn't run the middle because he runs too upright, he doesn't finish is runs hardly at all, he doesn't have the speed to turn the corner or take it to the house....What do we do if Lewis goes down as he seems to every year...For some reason the Coaches don't like Harrison even though he averaged 6.2 yards per carry...and look great doing it...He is a free agent after next year and will be gone and Starting for someone else 10)The biggest problem we have next year is Romeo..He is an inept Head Coach...You say by mike he was the coach and we had 10 wins this year...Well he was the coach last year and we had 4 wins. We had 10 wins completely on the back of the Offense...That was built by Savage and Coached by Chud...Romeo had NOTHING to do with it other then to keep insisting on playing FRYE until Savage finally traded him and Constantly keeping Harrison on the Bench by not activating him for games...and blocking Cribbs from getting a shot at WR because he is "too Valuable" as a kick returner... Further On Defense where RAC is suppose to know something...He has kept a lot of talent on the bench because he is afraid of making changes...God Forbid we get better then 32ond....I point Thompson, McDonald and Smith (only got in after Washington went down and has proven to be much better then Ted) and that is just for openers god only know how much talent is hidden on the bench. |

Agree, they will be 13-3 next season. They have a great schedule in 2008. 2 guaranteed wins in the Browns. GO Black & Gold !!! |
||||
How many G notes do you wish to bet on that claim? |

Yawn...another pathetic post from a pathetic person. Up kinda early on the 1st Realist?? What, no New Years party invites?? What a sad loser you must be. GO BUCKEYES!!! |

Actually I don't believe this is the REAL OMG! If so this is one of the few times you actually made some sense! There might be a good chance that your Dolphins scenerio might be just what happens! If so, I look for the Browns go for the best defensive end they can get! Wimbley will be awesome if he can get another impact player there to take the heat, and double teams, off of him |

''Just because you're a draft pick doesn't guarantee you success in the NFL. You have to prove it. And you have to have an opportunity to prove it."
You also have to be given such opportunity. DA is not the guy. He may be sometime in the future somewhere else, but not next year for the Browns. |
||||
Bill Cowher will be the next Brown's coach if Romeo goes south. Cowher was a Brown before he was a Steeler. |
||||
|
You have finally convinced me. If I was DA, I'd have to get out of town too. The first player in NFL history to be a pro bowl alternate, win 10 games, pass for over 3,0000 yards and be told the guy behind him is better because he played well in college. I just wonder why those idiots on draft day let BQ drop to 22 before Dallas traded their spot to the Browns. BQ might be a good QB some day, but sacrificing the entire 08 season for him to grow into a playoff QB? DA, Just get outa town and play for a city that wants you.

I hope a big part of Derek Anderson wants to stay here in Cleveland. He's established and we need him. I would slap a franchise tag on him and pay him what he deserves. Why take a chance on Brady Quinn? He is not going anywhere, Anderson is the man. I hope he stays because if he doesn't we could be very sorry somewhere down the road.

I believe the suggestions posted here for radical makeovers are way too premature and do not take into account the value of stablity and continuity in the professional sports business. Derek Anderson just completed his first season as a starter and it was't even all 16 games. He deserves the chance to go into training camp as the established QB. Critics please note that he was learning as he went this year. Any team that gave up on a guy like this now would be rightfully relegated to the imbecile bin.
Romeo wil be back as head coach. He's guided the team to where they are now and to change at this point would be similarly idiotic. The defense is where improvement must take place. Savage will focus his attention on the line and the 'backers, and if he can imitate his O line success the D should be vastly improved. A good year is exactly that. A good TEAM sustains. The Browns were one of the NFL's feelgood stories this year; 2008 tells us whether this was a flash-in-the-pan or the building block towards consistent contention. Browns fans, take a deep breath, mix some optimism with a little hair of the dog on this New Year's Day, and rather than carping look ahead to an exciting season where more pieces are in place than at any time since The Return. Happy New Year! |
