Yes, the Tree People are out in force.

The Gathering must adopt such tactics to reign in yet another generation.

They promote their belief system as canon, yet they believe because someone told them what to and how to.

If you MAKE your children go on Sunday, it is not education. It is indoctrination.

Dogma is.

Funny... I don't often see Christians deriding atheists and agnostics on these boards as much as I see the inverse.

Why do you feel the need to diss this gathering?

"Virginity Rocks" t-shirts? Are you serious?

This is about as silly as putting a 'fraternal order of police' or other such cop booster stickers on your car, hoping they won't pull you over.

It's naive because I can anticipate a young girl wearing such a 'T' catching the eye of a pervert or predator. Even at a festival.

Why wear one? Hmmmm......

You really are and don't know what the alternative is like,.....

You really aren't but want Mommy / Daddy to think you are.

Ha Ha, I almost believed about the "don't often see Christians deriding atheists" part.

And the "alive fest" is everything that is wrong with christianity. Some of them need a history lesson on protestantism. It's money making effort just like the sale of "relics" were. It's sickening.

Selling a CD or a tee shirt is a far cry from selling body parts that are to be kissed, revered, and worshipped.

I agree with you though about merchandising God. It is repulsive. This fest, though, was much more than a sales opportunity for vendors.

I think the CD is worse, at least with the supposed body parts you are worshipping, revering and honoring what you believe to be parts of people who served god to the highest level. A CD is a piece of plastic with half heartedly written music that mentions god.

And maybe the fest started out with a higher purpose. But show me that it's there now. You can't. The only one I ever went Liberty College was there plugging there school because the founder wants to boost enrollment to become a Division 1 school. They were giving away a Jeep Liberty as a contest. There were acres of vendors hocking "I heart Jesus" and "Jesus is my homeboy" shirts, plus hemp necklaces with crosses, and the aforementioned CD's. So you tell me. Money maker? Or Religious Festival?

Dogma is.
It's a parent's job to make their child do lots of things - eat good food, wash their hands, do their homework, say please and thank you, etc. And it's also a parent's right and duty to "indoctrinate" their child in their own belief system. My parents taught me to be respectful, truthful, kind, caring, act intelligently, etc. That was their belief. If they didn't teach it to me, then I wouldn't have learned.

So taking your child to church is the same thing...you pass on your beliefs and your values to your child and hope that they will choose to follow your example when they're adults. It's not indoctrination. It's a parent teaching their set of values to their child. It's parenting.

It's kids and families having a nice weekend at a rock concert and a campground. You seriously need to open your mind and stop being so dang negative about life.

So you have a problem with people making a living now? There are thousands of people who make their living as vendors at festivals in the summer. They sell t-shirts and other things at fairs, festivals and gatherings across the country. Even Clay's Park makes a lot of money from festivals and events. It's not a crime to make a living - even if you do it at a festival. An event can still be a so-called spiritual experience for one person and a job for another. I just think some people don't like to see others have any fun - which is probably the root of these criticisms here today.

If you don't find dismembering the remains of any person, let alone a person of faith, for reverence and worship purposes (and the worst: for sale) isn't scre*wed up, then you think far differently than I do, and that's OK, I guess.

If people attend this fest to buy trinkets, that's on them. my focus would be on the fellowship of like-minded and like-faith people. I really don't care much for Christian music/rock (Keith Green would be an exception), but if it came down to buying a CD or a chunk of St. Elmo's skull, I'd get the CD.

Using your own argument, show me that this fest doesn't maintain a sense of higher purpose. YOU can't either. I've never been to this fest, never heard of it until today. My point is simply this... I'm consistently amazed at the backlash of posters who cry foul anytime anything with a Christian label is placed in the public eye.

Money maker? Religious festival?

How about a celebration of life, music, and faith?

If it isn't affecting you, if droves of young Christians aren't pounding on your door trying to get you to "join up," why diss it?

PS - hemp is natural. It's a proven historic fact that Jesus and his posse wore tons of hemp, participated in drum circles, and smoked a lot of dope. They also followed the Grateful Dead... that's why "MC J.C." and crew got around Palestime so much... they were tailing the Dead on tour!

That last show at Jerusalem was a killer!

Daily Horoscope for November 26

Gemini

Your eleventh house of friends and associates is activated by the Moon in Aries and it's time to go out and play with your friends. Even the Twins, who have been somewhat reclusive lately, will benefit from socializing tonight. A sense of relief will take hold when you realize that no one really has a better life than you. Sure, it might seem like someone else has a more glamorous existence, but if you could be a fly on the wall in their bedroom, you'd find they have nightmares, too!
