Rice dominated the NFL Developmental League (SEC) for two years. He has a lot of natural ability. I agree with Dan...I wouldn't be surprised if Rice ends the season with better numbers than Berrian, or at least makes more clutch plays. He has unbelievable body control - which may be the most important physical attribute in a receiver, other than having good hands. A lot is made about how he doesn't have elite speed. Precise Route-Running and the ability to consistently shield defenders and adjust to the ball will always make up for lack of "blazing speed". He's not a snail for cripes sake, the dude can get deep on occasion. He reminds me of a Jimmy Smith type receiver. Wouldn't surprise me if he has the same kind of career.

No sophomore slump for this guy. I remember the longer TD's last year, but I think Rice will prove his strong suit is as a possession receiver. He may be remembered one day in comparison to Ahmad Rashad and Chris Carter. Rice is s big part of the solution for our team. Go Vikings!

Yo Archie, in response to your last post on the other story i must pass on your offer. yes it sounds like a real hoot harrassing the cheesehead fans and all but quite frankly i'd rather go on a strict diet of s**t stew than open a packer web site and register to blog. no hard feelings, it's just me....VIKES 38 gb ZERO.....FAVRE STILL SUCKS....GO QUEENS Yeah, I have to agree with Dan on this one. No offense against Berrian, but like a $h!t-load of others I could see the talent in Sid The Kid early last season too. He hasn't even come close to hitting the peak of his upside yet! Man, that's going to be kool! Now, in response to Dan: I used to feel the way you do about being on a GB site. UNTIL, one day I just got p*$$*d-off over how many were using THIS site. My natural instinct, as you well know, is to attack back. Figure best defense is the offense. It's pretty comical to get them all stirred up. One actually posted that they have to find a way to get us all off of their site. That was last season. You can imagine the fun with The Favre Drama so far. Ahh... KGB's knee, Rodgers' glass bones, etc.

I like Rice, too - think he'll be the real deal. But I'd also like to see Allison get some playing time, too. I think he's better suited as a 3rd reciever and slot guy than wade.

Bobby Wade is small, slow and has ok hands. The thing he does do well is run the right route. When Allison can master the playbook he will provide a better threat then Wade and coaches will not be afraid to use him. I'd rather see Allison, RIce and Berrian on the field then Wade or Ferguson. Just my opinion.

I had one guy who was trying to get me banned, and on profootball talk I've had a couple packer fans use my post name to discredit me. I finally left the packer topix site, but promised to return after the 9/8 game. Some of their more level headed posters are fine, but they definitely have a run on odd ball fans who think TT/MM can do no wrong. I like how you slammed Jimmy Smith on another thread, he's so whacked out about the Vikings, I think he's Tommy Kramer' illegitimate son. Now the only thing he has in common with Tommy is his love of alcohol.

I dont mind some of the Packer fans coming over to comment on the Viking forum, its the ones that immediatly start out with an uncalled-for insult oriented attack that I cant stand. And I do enjoy the shut-down replies some of you guys can give. I believe in sportsmanship among rivals, and some of the posts by people on the forums seem to be given by ones that would also beat the crap out of thier kids team coach for not putting him in a game. As always, I am under no delusions as to the Vikes. I wait and see with high hopes every year how its gonna play out. Speaking of high hopes and getting back on topic - Sidney Rice! Yeah, I have high hopes for him. I dont believe I have ever seen any quit in the kid, and have seen him make some very acrobatic catches. Hey, he already has the last name of one of the greatest WR's to ever play the game, so he has to be good right? Lol, just putting a little joe-football-fan logic in there.

Put in Ferguson where he is gonna be near the primary reciever on a 4 WR set so he can block, he seems to like it and is pretty decent at it...just a non-experts opinion.

I just do not understand why we argue about the different teams that play in the pros? All the players are over-paid kids that can get into more trouble than the common man or woman in this country. I think that we, as the fans, should boycott anything from the pro level sporting goods. It is time that we make the contracts go down to a true pay scale, not this screw the fans to get what we want. The pros are playing a game that many others would play for much less in pay and benefits. But as long as we continue to think that the pros are god like figures, we will be paying outrages prices to support a team that would not be there if it was not for the fans.

We've butted heads Vikefan? It's inevitable at times, and usually good natured (I think). What if the Vikings actually have a decent pass game this year? Losing Rice late last year hurt a bunch, but I agree that he is far from a finished product. Berrian, Rice, Wade, Allison, this really isn't a bad group to head into a season. Shianco HAS to play better this year, or he will go down as a 'miss' by Childress/Spielman. Watching the Giants/Redskins game, and my only hope is that Smoot plays as well for the Skins as he did for us.

Hey Fatman, Owners make a ton of money as do the players. The fans get it in the arse either by buying the Sunday Ticket for 300.00 a pop, paying 7.00 a beer or coming to the game. The only problem is after watching the Vikes for 40 years, it would be easier for Tyrone Biggums to give up his crack pipe then for a diehard NFL fan to leave his/her team.

Yeah, I think we may have had a couple heated exchanges in the past, but its all forgotten. I agree we have a good bunch of receivers entering the season. Jackson MUST show he can utilize his receiving corp. My jury is still out on him at the time being. LOL, Smoot! Well if you see a Giants receiver make a catch, and Smoot is playing 10 yards off of him, then "yes" he is playing as well for the Redskins as he did for us!

personally, i like to see Troy Williamson retire as a Viking. what blazing speed this kid has. all the hype about Randy Moss was replaced by this kid will be a classic. all his youtube films showed he blew by the corners with ease. "Catching" is a different story.

If I may,,,,this leads into a question i had.if TJ has a bad year with these recievers,is his career as a starter in Minn done? You have amoung the top 3 RB in the league in A.P. so that itself makes passing easier abit.

Hey Vikefan, is it me or did you see that yawner coming (G-men/Skins)? That game was about as brutal as Brandon Jacobs' running style...which was one of the only interesting things to watch by the way.
