Surtain was a great corner who never got the national recognition he deserved.

If healthy, for a minimum salary he would be a good pickup for covering slot receivers.

Best cornerback tandem in the NFL for years!!! Too bad their best years came under Dave "Run. Run. Run-if-its-anything-less-than- 3rd&6.Punt" Wannstedt. Jimmy Johnson handed him a championship team and he did NOTHING with it. Even with Jay Fiedler at QB, my grandmother could've took the 2002 Dolphins deep into the playoffs. Hopefully, I and every other Dolphin fan can look back on those wasted years and laugh one day.

Bring back Surtain and Madison. They're better than anything on the Fins squad.

Unless your comment is made as a satire on the typical poster making knee jerk suggestions anytime a sexy sounding name is involved. If that's the case, I love it.

But if not, I have to tell you I'm disappointed. Surtain is old and done. 2002 was SEVEN years ago, and he was in his 5th year then! I happen to think Will Allen is good, but even if you don't think much of Will, you cannot intelligently suggest the 2009 Surtain would be an upgrade.

Also, BP's been here for a year now and we all kind of see how he does things. Do you really think he's going to go after a guy like Pat Surtain?

Alright O.H., we're good. But you have to promise me not to make a habit of this. If Zach Thomas is a free agent, you have to promise you won't say the Dolphins should sign him for a year or two, okay?

NO,NO,NO, to Zach Thomas, but Patrick Surtain, why not... The dude is still only 32 he might still have something left. I like W.Allen but it seems almost every time we get burned its on him. I think we let Goodman cover the big deep threat guy, Surtain takes the other, and bring in W.Allen when we need to cover a third. If Surtain doesnt have it anymore then put Allen back where he was while we keep working on getting a real shutdown corner. Its just a thought, and would only be for a little while...GO PHINS!!!

I love nostalgia, but Surtain isn't coming back to Miami... not on the Tuna's watch anyway. I think he'd be a fair nickle back, but for how much longer and how much $$$? Not going to happen. I hope he retires a Phin nonetheless.

Because shouldn't we want to put the entire JJ/Wannie era behind us? There are other fish in the sea.

Besides, and thankfully, BP doesn't like them old and hurt. Unless they're "Parcells Guys" like Jason Ferguson.

Signing Surtain, or any old and past-his-prime player is something the Jets and Redskins do. Thankfully we aren't like that anymore.

But while we're talking about Surtain, I think some truths need to be told. He was good. Probably the best CB we've had. But he wasn't great. And Madison wasn't as good as Surtain. They were OK. Not significantly better than Allen and Goodman, and I'd argue Allen and Goodman may be better. Probably a wash.

They were better than JB Brown, Paul Lankford, Calvin Jackson, Mohammed Oliver, Darrell Malone, Sean Hill, or any of those guys. But they were also huge parts of defenses that absolutely collapsed whenever the heat was on.

To say Surtain and Madison were the best CBs in Dolphins history is like saying Blair was the best looking Facts of Life girl. It's not that great an accomplishment, an argument can be made that Jo was better looking, and an argument can be made that the Dolphins had or have better CBs.

Bring em back! hahahaharg! Laverneus Coles beat em both! It be like old times. Coles scores again!
So Parcells and the meatball mafia are gonna go the same route rummage sales and riflin through dirty laundry for schlepers. All those special teams pundits you losers picked up and then that big pickup Wilford,WOW? Face it your team's cheap so forget about gettin anybody that can play. I mean why should brown sign with a team he smacked around twice last year. AAAAAAAAGHT!
Then its the 25th pick..who do you think your gonna get with that pick?
A game changer? hahahahahahahaharg!

Agree the Jets pick before the Dolphins but will find away to botch the pick keeping up with their long tradition of draft blunders.

With the 17th pick in 2009 NFL draft the Ny Jets select the ghost of Vernon Gholston, Blair Thomas, Ken Obrien, Kyle Brady, Roger Vick...

If parcells think they will improve Miami, you'll see them on the fins. My guess is they might have
some gas left in their tank, especially for a veteran minimum contract. How can Miami lose?

To be kind, Surtain wasn't known for for his prowess at tackling. Too many times in important games he came up short when a ball carrier ran to his side. I doubt Parcells or Ireland are in the market for that

Allen and Goodman better than Surtain and Madison? I beg to differ!

The only way you can even try to win that one is if you speak of the other talent that surrounded Pat and Sam in their tenure here. Perhaps it made them bigger than what they really were, you know? Still, I disagree.

Nevertheless, I agree with you that neither of them are worth "bringing home"... until it's time to retire as a PHIN (one day contract).

If you have kids, you'll see her on Disney Channel's "Sonny With a Chance". Wouldn't call her hot, but better than Blair

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
