Dude I don't even know what your talking about, but I did check my facts. In fact 670 was just talking about this piece on the radio and there stats came up with 60 percent of all blue chip recievers are taken in round 1. Maybe you think guys who get 500 yards a season are starters. Fact is you named 2 guys taken in late rounds, over a 10 year period. Are that dumb? Your asking me to check stats? The Score just just went over and came up with the same basic stats i did, 80 percent of all starting WR in the NFL come from rounds 1-2 so 3-7 is only 20 percent.Great article; however, historically (Jerry Rice, Lynn Swann) and even in today's NFL (large list) most WR starters come from Round 1. One of the main exceptions to this general trend is the passing attack of New Orleans. Their top producing receivers are Lance Moore (undrafted, Toledo) and Marques Colston (7th round, Hofstra). They made it work, why can't the Bears? Here is the main reason:
NEWS FLASH: The Bears run the football, play defense, and do some stuff of special teams. They are not a passing team. JA and LS have recognized that they need someone to compliment Hester, but that is all that they will do after throwing the return man a $40 million dollar WR bone. There is great value to be found in the draft in the 3rd and 4th round (Louis Murphy or Mohamed Massaqui). The key to this whole situation is coaching and play calling. Former Bears plays do great elsewhere: either other teams coach/develop better, or they have better play callers than Turner.
Creighton: I'm surprised that you can spell your last name "1 round too 6 rounds. If close too 40% of recievers .... your saying ... starter calibur reciever". Here's a link for how to spell and even say c-a-l-i-b-e-r http://dictionary.reference.com/search...
So either me and the Score 670 are wrong and you are right. Or me and the big radio station who are making fun of this piece are right and your an idiot.
I can't believe you named two guys and are like see it's that easy. Over 10 years, count the amount of recievers taken look at who did well and then find your percentage. Maybe you think Jerry Porter is a stud, who knows or Devery Henderson is a beast in pass happy offense.
Oh and by the way idiot, the Bears are not a running team. To be a running team you need to run the ball more than pass the ball. The Bears had around 100 more attempts passing the Ball, and thats with Forte. Some running team, do you know anything about the Bears? What do you just listen to the cliche's shooting out of Lovie's mouth? I suppose you think Bear weather exists along with Santa and the Tooth Fairy. You do know every time Turner has coached the offense that the Bears become a pass first team right? Oh I guess that something you missed to. Why don't you count all those recievers and spare me the Jerry Porters of the world and let me know what you find. You have yet to give single number or fact.
