The Indianapolis Colts apparently have an interest in adding a veteran to their young running back corps.

Geez. They must really not like the other options if they are entertaining Mungro. If the kid can still play then I am all for it. He has earned this opportunity to have a decent share of touches if it works out. All he ever did was play second-fiddle to the starter every year he was here and never complained once. It would be nice to see him get a shot and then maybe get D-Rhodes money somewhere else after this year.

Do you all forget back in '02 time frame when the guy was actually pretty effective. Yeah, he didn't do anything afterward because he didn't play, but people were calling for him over Edge for a little while when Edge was a little too tentative. I say it can't hurt and I think Mungro actually has some good yards left in him.

Mungro is a great short yardage back and I think he would fit in just fine and plus he already knows the offense and the coaches love him

I think it would be a good pickup actually. He knows the system. He could go in today if he had to and be comfortable. It'd be a good insurance policy for us in case anything happened to Addai. Pay him the league minimum.

Give it to Mungro a few times to soften up opposing D-lines then let Addai run wild.

In addition to Mungro, the Colts had another RB used sparingly during the Edge era. His name was Dominic Rhodes. Mungro alternated with DR and fairly effective. As we all might remember, DR hardly did anything until the Colts decided not to re-sign Edge and when he teamed up with Addai, he was pretty effective. So, it could be that Mungro might be used in the same capacity. Both Mungro and DR are more of the mold of a 'tweener...that is, they're not exactly RBs & they're not textbook FBs either. They're in between, thus 'tweeners.

Who knows? Maybe Mungro could augment Addai's game. I look for the Colts to use JA a bit more this year. Having a genuine WR in rook Gonzales, thus shifting Clark back to his TE role will help. But the way Clark played in the absence of Stokely, he can easily play either position, but also give the Colts that extra blocker they need that TEs bring to the game.

Depending on how the other draftees pan out, Mungro could either wind up on the roster or be assigned to the practice squad.

I just don't see how the Colts can get away from using a rotating two back set given the success they had last year and the way it helped give Manning a little more freedom in play choices during pre-snap.

If you've kept up with off-season player interviews and OTA coverage, the Man himself Peyton Manning thinks that DeDe Dorsey will be Addai's number two.

Picking up Mungro will provide veteran leadership to a RB corps with its senior member being a 2nd year man, and also provide guidance about a system that he is already very familiar with and, like has been said already, has enjoyed some success.

Why did the Star take away all of the links to the main forum on here?

Find it any where in sports, or on the front page?

They used to have a footer at the bottom every article, now we have this. Which is okay in real time, but nothing like the other.

Me thinks they are going to do away with the main forum. What say you?

Oh, and Mungro at the league minimum will do.

I think Mungro needs a V-8. and the coaching staff needs to wake up to a Cappachino.

Do I have confidence in this year's team? "Sure"

Just looking forward to a nice butt-whooping by the PATS, Ravens, and Chargers.

Beef up the LB and CB situation.

Just give the ball to Joe! And use the other guys like a merry-go-round.

Thanks for explaining what a tweener is...we are all now enlightened. As for Rhodes, he sucks. He had like 3 good games and never shed his reputation for fumbling too much. Mungro can easily do whatever that undeservingly-glorified kick returner DR did when he was in the backfield. It is all about the Colts having an underrated O-Line.

Although I am not a football fan I met James Mungro a few years ago when he had trouble with a lightning damaged TV. He is a really nice down to earth guy that will be an asset to the team.

I would not be opposed to bringing back Mungro for the vet mininum. However, I am still somewhat concerned about the lack of depth at defensive tackle. I certainly think that Mcfarland has one or two sesons left at best. I love Quinnn Pitcock and I think Dan Klecko is an adequete reserve, but I don't see much behind them. I still like Raheem Brock as a defensive end more than a tackle; As far as Darrel Reid he does not impress me at all.

I would like a Chris Brown or a Corey Dillon. Both of those two are bigger and in a rotating system would be very effective.

I believe mungo will be the answer, give him a chance to prove himself, he as at least earned that by playing second fiddle, there have been a lot of backups that ended up being amazing... lets not forget steve young was a backup for several years AFTER people called him a bust in Tampa Bay!!!!!
