Full story: Tacoma News Tribune

The Green Bay Packers select defensive tackle B.J. Raji with the No. 9 pick. I think this makes some sense.

we gave up a lot to get matthews, but TT is addressing this defense, good move. Clay has good NFL genes and comes from a very good school.

First TT takes need in stead of best available, then he trades up.....what's going on here, is really TT in the war room? Good job though, Defense has been addressed. So much for Poppinga.....it's gonna be a good year.

GREAT MOVE TED!!! a 2nd and a 3rd and the Jets 3rd for Mathews,i think it may be abit much, but,he going to be a very good backer.
I heard on Packer radio that the Packers will trade James Jones for a mid round pick which might explain how come TT traded our or the Jets 3rd.

Hey Eric, I couldn't find any thing. Have you heard anymore about a JJ trade? I like that guy and hate to see him go, but Jordy is waiting in the wings to move up too.
JJ reminds me alot of Sterling Sharpe.

Ted was asking for a 3rd,so im figuring if JJ is still a Packer at the end of the 3rd round he is a Packer next year.
I personally think it would be a mistake to trade him but im not the GM.
i havent heard anything either,so im assuming the deal is either dead or it was rumor, but the Packer pregame show guys are usually on target,so who knows!

Ted had a great day yesterday. He had a comment in the WASHINGTON POST that said something about Raji being..... incredible and that God didn't make too many like that!!!!!

And Clay Jr!!!! What a great pedigree!

Wow.

Really surprised they didn't take Crabtree... I didn't think there was any way TT would pass him up if he was available. I didn't see the draft live... did the pick take a while, like they were trying to work a trade?

Raji should be a great pick though... looks like the DE spot opposite Jenkins comes down to a battle between Pickett and Harrell now? The 3-4 DE spot is a little different than the 4-3... that's probably Harrell's spot to lose at this point if he is going to do anything this year.

Matthews was a good pick too, though that seemed like an awful lot to give up. Like GBPfan said, very unTTlike. If he's as good as advertised (some mocks had him going in the teens) it will be worth it.

And what happened to Everette Brown? Some mocks had him going to the Packers or Bills in that 9 - 11 range... what a freefall!

Not too much excitement today, since we have to wait till the 4th round now... though JJ could be traded...

I am not too surprized about Crabtree, they said yesterday on ESPN, that the DB's he played against didn't even make the top 30 list in this years draft. You saw what happened when the low draft picks went to Europe and played, they looked like stars, but didn't do much when they got back and tried making it in the NFL. I hope he does well, as I enjoyed watching him in college, time will tell.

Raji was on the phone with Packer personnel pretty soon after the Pack was put on the clock. JJ being on the block obviously indicates that TT didn't consider WR much of a need.

Dom Capers has a lot of cred in the NFL and I'm sure he had a lot of input on those two picks. Very excited to see how these two players work out, I think they are instant impact players who can start now and contribute. We just need our O-line to hold up and we'll be a playoff team this year. Lets hope Harrell works out.

That is, in part, because they gave up a good chunk of their second day.

As far as picking Raji there are several possible explanations:

1. The Packers brilliantly utilized their enormous staff of scouts, personnel people, consultants, draft services and other resources to make the pick nobody else saw.

2. TT knows how to read and went with the concensus of the mock drafts.

3. TT has a TV and watched ESPN.

We know that TT either doesn't or can't read. Thus the comment that he doesn't "know what a Facebook is" so, I bet it was that he was watching ESPN and went with the no-brainer pick.

As for the trade for Mathews, we'll see if the Packers win more games than the Patriots. Then we'll know if TT (and Capers) got the best of that trade.

I know that you think that you are way more optimistic than me. But don't let my ability to not lose my grip on reality with a lack of optimism.

Daily Horoscope for November 30

Scorpio

Last minute changes in your plans are likely as Mercury clashes with unpredictable Uranus. Today can be fun and exciting if you are prepared to be flexible. If you are not in the mood for surprises, you may be quite put out by what transpires. Look at life as one grand adventure and see the humour in little miscalculations. Laughter will help save the day.
