Are we surprised?
He never was going to make it anyway. Not with his background and lack of character. The NFL is more than catching passes. |
Time to move to Canada or Arena ball.He was a hell of a good basketball player too.
he is no rey thats for sure
To hear the guys on the Eureka Eagles thread talk, Mo was cheated because he didn't play elite travel ball.
I think Mo should have played Soccer. He would have probably made it if he had played the sport that all of the elite baseball players are playing instead. There are quite a few former baseball players playing Major League Soccer or Major Indoor Soccer League....or starring in other countries....or playing collegiate basketball, football, or playing professionally overseas.... |
And by the way, it's the Humboldt Eagles, not the Eureka Eagles....that's because it is inclusive of everyone that has the ability to make it. |
Mo was and is a great all around athlete. When was the last time Eureka or Arcata,Mack or Fortuna had a black soccer player at the high school level? The Humboldt Eagles had how many black players in their history?
Mo was recruited by as many basketball coaches as football.Ask him about his Eureka baseball experiences?Talk about elitism! |
I think he got recruited by the same schools that recruited Ryan and Chris. They got serious looks this year. Maurice and Mo Charlo....what JC's did they go to again? |
Grades and SAT-ACT scores?
Both making more money $250,000+ playing the games they love.Got their degrees too.Like Rey next year only Mo money. Eureka's duel sport point guard/wide receiver will get to choose D1 offers in 2 sports next spring, mostly due to grades. Then baby Rey the next year to USC. What do they all have in common? Who's Ryan and Chris? |
Same school as OJ Simpson. |
Mo Purify played at City College of San Francisco Mo Charlo played at Diablo Valley College |
They both needed academics not athletics to go on to Nevada and Nebraska.Purify could have gone to OSU,WSU or Fresno among others but chose to play for Callahan because of Pro-type approach. He regrets not going to the Beavers. |
A) it's pretty sad not to be able to make it into a state public school because of academics.
B) watch Rey fall out of the 1st round this next year due to character issues. Lack of character seems to be a common theme of talented athletes from the Eureka program. Mo didn't make it because he's not tallented, he didn't make it because he didn't want to step up and be the best... something Bengals WR coach Mike Sheppard said he was specifically looking for. When everyone arround you is just as tallented as you... character is what sets one apart. Mo didn't have it. |

1)Rey will not fall out of the first round. This comment alone shows how little you know about the topic. Do ANY research and you would know this.
2)I hope for nothing but the best for Mo and I know things will work out for him. If you knew anything about him you would feel the same way and understand how hard he worked to get the that level. Don't forget how hard it is to get into an NFL camp. You want to talk about talent and character? There are also many people out there more talented than Mo who have lived an easier life who never made it where he has. |
a.Unlike you cowards I'm not afraid to leave my name on here!
b. You want to talk character... do any of you truly know Big Mo or Lil Mo... I'm guessing not because if you did you would know that they are both amazing people. Yea, Mo made some mistakes, Rey made some mistakes as well as everybody else in this world. We are human! C. Grow up and get over yourself. Don't be jealous because someone is getting the opportunity to live their dreams. You don't know either of their life stories so honestly who are you to sit here and judge them. Did you know Purify lost his brother and girlfriend within a month and his best friend a year before that? He handled it a lot better then most people would have! D. Give these guys the chance and support they deserve. Doubt that you could ever play D1 ball let alone the in nfl. Get over yourselves! |

You've been smoking too much medecine my friend. The media (ESPN) has been all about Rey these last couple of days. If you cared to listen to Rey's sound bites, or quotes, then you heard a pretty humble guy talking about the upcoming game. Rey is a phenom..Period. His character is fine. Barring injury, he will be taken in the first 10 picks come draft day. Rather than speak out your **S, why don't you sit back this college football season and watch a once in a lifetime local son perform on the national stage. Of course, you're probably one of the local parents who think Rey would have been better served playing AAU Basketball or Soccer. |
Rey played AAU basketball and loves soccer but football and soccer conflicted. Some folks are saying that NCS soccer will be a winter sport in 2010.
Next year when Rey is a Raider we'll have 4 locals playing in the pros.Throw in Buck from Del Norte in the CFL and the HDNL should be proud. A stat man said the odds are phenomenally high that a county our size has that many pros.He pointed out that there a few former HSU players at the pro level too. BTW when you take a swipe at AAU basketball or soccer parents your talking about pretty much every parent with athletic kids in Humboldt. Is your point that kids playing multiple sports don't go pro? Or is it a baseball thing? How many kids you see looking like Rey or Mo or Mo on the Falcons or Dukes or Giants or 76ers or the Eagles? Or any hlgh school soccer or baseball team in the history of Humboldt/Del Norte counties. |
Matt Pidgeon and Scott Eskra both played minor league ball out of the falcons and Eagles Program for a couple years. Ken Mayer was drafted out of Cal, and Brad Guy pitched in the minors for a quite a while if memory serves, that is pretty good representation for local baseball programs.

These posts are weird...
Someone said they guarantee Mo will make it? He had his chance and failed and is now on house arrest in Nebraska. NFL teams will likely not give him another shot. There is probably a 99% chance Mo will not play in the NFL. Rey has a 99% chance of playing in the NFL. If he doesn't get arrested he will be a first round draft pick. Soccer and baseball? What does that have to do with anything? |
