Nothing wrong with giving Basenez a shot. Kurt Warner was in the Arena League and also bagging groceries at one time and now has been the starter on 3 Super Bowl teams. Tom Brady was a 6th round draft choice who has 3 rings. Part of the job of the GM is to find the overlooked player who can become a solid pro.

Well,Well,I do believe the Verdict is in! I rest my case,good people! After this sick little mans previous responses. He has indicted himself with his own testimonies! I nagged the Bears to take a look at Basanez.

He came within 4 yards of becoming the only player in NCAA history with 10,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. He's 13th on the NCAA's all-time list for total offense, and 28th on the all-time list for passing yards. So where's the problem?

A passing QB who can run when he needs to, what a concept for a team like the Bears.

I suggested they go with Orton, Hanie and Basanez.
I also suggested the pick up a second back like Forte (to go with a two back setup like Payton and Anderson), and fix the defense.

I'm betting the kid does just fine.

Tom, you got it, that's our QB line up.... and i am leaning this Basanez is going to do alright in the NFL once he's given the teaching and the right moment.

Well, seeing as how the Bears know as much as I do about developing a QB, I am sure he will have his dreams crushed before him.
Let's hope somehow they screw it up and actually teach him how to be a decent NFL QB.

He sounds like he has huge potential tho!
