Thats a hell of a football team! Like to see one more LG, all rookies backing up Ogden, a better 4th in the recievers group, but our tight ends are excellent recievers, so not a problem. We oughtg to go back and get Matt Willis for the practice squad. The kicking game is going to make a huge difference this year. teams having to start in the hole against this defense is going to win a few games for us all by itself. I really don't think the league realizes how good this team can be, even with last years record. The Ravens are a better team than the one that lost to the Colts in the playoffs last year. I think only New England improved in parallel with us. It should be a great ride!

Hell yes! Finally some positivity from another Ravens fan besides myself!!! Let us salute the Purple and Black.
But in all honesty, I agree and have been saying the same thing. On paper, this team looks far better than the one that went 2nd Seed, 13-3 last year. People have talked about the loss of Adalius Thomas....and as someone who bought his jersey last year, I feel that loss more than most...I love the guy, and that shit isn't cheap!!! But we won't be feeling the loss on the field....by all accounts, Johnson is coming into his starter roll just fine, and from the looks of it, we have five young and versatile defensive backup players now, all of whom could be looking to push for a starting position as soon as next season. Especially Antwan Barnes.....DAMN. Basically....our second string defense could STILL beat most teams' starting offense, and that speaks volumes. Speaking of offense.....this one has even more potential than last year. McNair SHOULD be better all around this year, and Boller looks very solid if he goes down. Clayton and Williams are both going to blow up this year, I can feel it, and even beyond them, we have Mason, Heap, and Wilcox to throw the ball to as well. Our younger, faster, stronger o-line, as the story goes, will hopefully gel VERY quickly, and be able to not only provide pass protection, but jump start a long-stale running game. Willis McGahee, by all rights, should be able to get some yards with this team. And Mike Anderson gives us a VERY solid "Jamal" type power back to run up the middle, as well as having Musa Smith as a 3rd down back, and reliable catcher in the backfield. And the special teams play IS crucial, and I feel it will be better than last year as well. Stover will be more rested with Lloyd as the kickoff specialist. Koch is a solid punter, and if he can keep that shit long and strong, we should do even better in the tackling department. And with Sams and Figurs both returning shit (which I'm sure they might), we're going to see at least a couple return TDs. This team is something to be excited about for sure, and I can't WAIT for Sep. 10th. LET'S GO RAVENS!!!!! |

Too true. People play up all Marvin Lewis has done with that team since taking the reigns....and yet they have gone 8-8 EVERY season except 2005, in which they were one and done against the Steelers.
They AREN'T that good a team, in fact the Ravens have consistently been in the playoffs and been a playoff contender since 2000. We have a mind blowingly great defense, and our offense is looking to take a step up this season, with a more comfortable QB, and the most talented receiving corp we've ever had. If Willis McGahee and Mike Anderson can contribute, and the O-line can keep up it's stellar play from last season, then this team is going to go VERY far. Maybe even "all the way". Our special teams is set to get even better with more tackling monsters added to the mix, and TWO, count em TWO great return specialists, one of whom allegedly regularly beat Devon Hester's times in college. Basically, if everything click the way it should, by the end of this season, you could honestly be looking at the NFL's most well balanced team heading into the playoffs....and if that happens, we'll be pretty much unstoppable. Period. |
