This is not justice. No, he should not have carried a gun into a bar. But 2 years is too much. I could see one year + 10 years probation. I guess that is why I am not a judge.

I would have given Michael Vick 20 years.

his investments are still making money so he is paying for his stay, so to speak.
With that said, since he is in the slammer, he isn't pulling in the $8 -$10 mil and paying taxes on that, so, you can bitch all you want about supporting him, but the reality is, his type the athlete really helps support our economy.

I'm no Plaxico fan, but 2 years - wow - He shot himself no one else, and yes he was stupid - but hey we live in a world where they take insane murders to the county fair and the guy escapes. So, why expect any kind of sanity from our justice system.

I agree. I have no pity for the man. I still think the punishment is pretty tough.

On another board on this site, a female teacher was just convicted of having sex with a 15 year old female student.

That adult teacher got 15 months. With good behavior, she'll serve less time for raping a child than Burress gets for shooting himself in the leg with his gun.

His "investments"? Yeah sure, he seems like a financial whiz. You're guessing.

I'm not supporting him, and one thing is definite, taxpayers will be paying for his keep for the next two years, when he could have been paying much more in taxes.

2 years seem kinda steep. Like I mentioned, earlier. A female teacher raping a student gets less time.

that's exactly my point. He was given a sentence not in proportion to the law he broke. He "should" be earning $10 mil/yr, of which paying approximately $4 mil in taxes, that's what keeps this country going. As a tax base, we just lost $ 8 mil for 2 years because of excessive punishment meant to teach others a lesson. For God's sake, he shot himself too. He didn't harm anyone. I bet he would have served less time if the bullet harmed another, as dumb as these laws can be. LMAO.

Burress committed a crime but the real crime is his sentence, especially when you consider Stallworth killed a man and got 24 days and Burress shoots himself and gets 24 months.

Last I checked, the constitution says I have the right to bear arms, which was confirmed again last year by the Supreme Court. So I guess a good question would be; "Who in the hell defended Burress and does he know anything about federal law?"
