The 3-4 defense is becoming more and more widespread throughout the NFL, especially in the AFC. The "good" ones all have a nose tackle that is 345 - 370 pounds - guys like Shaun Rodgers. Sullivan, being only 301 pounds, cannot possibly stand up to that kind of "meat" without help - no other center of his size would be able to either. As the article indicated, when Sully was beat, he was left alone on Rodgers. Let this be an early season lesson for Chilly. If you want to keep your $12.5 million dollar QB healthy, you'd better plan a double team on nose tackles like Green Bay's Raji.

Unless Raji gained a bunch of weight I don't think Sully will have a problem - he certainly didn't in college when ND played BC (though ND lost every year - go eagles).

There is no way Birk blocks Rodgers on his own either. Sullivan will only get better, and it doesn't at this time appear that we will miss either Birk or Cook on this offensive line. This team needs to obtain an attitude with this spittin nails defense. They have the talent to shut most anyone down.

Kind of odd that Cleveland's game plan was to run the ball. I guess they were just trying to help the young QB.

Too much beef in the middle for them to run the ball on us. I love it. Remember the 1970's, when "The way to beat the Vikings is to run straight at them"? Glad that old cliche is overtaken by events. Skol Vikings.

Yep. in all the SB's they ran right at Marshall cause he was undersized, a lot of poeple think that is why he is probably not in the HOF yet, stress yet.

The Vikes had a lot of guys who were undersized in the 70's ...Tincklhoff, Marshall, even Tarkenton. yet they still had a big heart and won big games. Unfortunately they always ran into a better team on that day. Goes to show the great job Grant did in getting the team to the big game.
