Packers' personnel taking shape at each position

Columnist Pete Dougherty says that personnel are taking shape at each position, but apparently not without reason for concern. He begins by saying that Turd Thompson gave up two third round picks to aquire a player that may not start. Then he points out that Nick Collins missed all volutary work outs and the offensive line will have at least three new young and inexperienced players in starting positions. And nobody, including Pete, has had anything good to say about either of the players competing for the position of punter. I already have fingers crossed on both hands.

I do agree with GBPfan that this article is a little slanted. I too would have thought Matthews would be the clear cut starter, but this Thompson guy apparently fits this scheme like a glove. Either way Matthews will see plenty of playing time I believe. If Lang does start that would make three rookies when you factor in Raji and Johnson at FB. I am concerned about our safeties where Collins' faces a learning curve and Bigby is questionable. Smith could see a lot of play along with Rouse. GBPfan; you got to admit that TT has done a good job stacking the team at each position. Flynn could make for an excellent backup QB, although I am a little surprised Brohm is still struggling. It did take Rodgers a couple years to get decent though.

I don't know guys, but the D line, if it holds up looks pretty good to me. BJ at 337. Jolly at 320 and Pickett in the middle at 340, it looks aweful stout to me. With Jenkins, Harrell, Malone and this Wynn guy in the mix, it could provide good depth. Don't forget Kampman, Thompson, and Montgomery could always step up on the line.
Thompson has been an animal at OLB, so maybe Mathews will fit inside, just in case AJ has another lousy year, or Barnett doesn't recover from that injury.
The DB's although a little up in the air with Collins, will have (I hope)an outstanding year with the personel we have. Tramon has improved every year, and if Bigby isn't himself, they say this new guy Smith can play ball. I know he was in the dog house with the steelers, and didn't start alot, but Harris was a backup when we got him too. I think Rouse will have a great year and what coach wouldn't want the remainder as backups, Blackmon, Lee, Porter and Underwood. I just feel pretty good about the D this year, hell couldn't be any worse than last year. The O should be on cruise control. Alot of people are talking about the vikes, hell, I think they are one Adrian Peterson away from being the Lions.

I am the same as every other fan in that I am optimistic about the Packers chances every year. But the last four years have proved that the Packers are NOT stacked at every position. A team that is stacked at every position does not put up 4-12, 8-8 and 6-10 records. The only winning season was in a year that the Packers had amazingly few injuries, the NFLs easiest schedule and the league runner up in MVP votes. 2007 certainly did NOT prove that the Packers are stacked at every position. There is a big difference between "being optimistic" and "burying your head in the sand." Ignoring the facts doesn't make the bad facts go away. The simple truth is that TT is a terrible GM.
