Miami didn't win, but it was a good game. Ted ginn
broke out of his shell and had 11 catches. Miami had the long drive in the 3rd quarter. Wildcat lived up to its name, though I fail to understand why Miami stuck in Pat White just to have him hand off? Defense played awful but sparano and company will correct the secondary flaws. Personally with Miami 0-2, I see no reason not to play chad henne. Pennington's lack of arm strength was apparent. |

Ted Ginn broke out of his shell for 11 catches but failed to catch the important 12th! He sucks!

One cannot rate a wr on the basis of one catch. |

the safety play wasnt good, it seems wilson is out of position trying too hard to support the run, that really needs to be corrected, and tackling was poor, the running game was awesome, if we can dominate time of posession like that we will win games!!! i think it's too early to give up on pennington but he needs to be aware of clock management! how do you almost get a delay call in the hurryup and have to blow a timeout!! |

yeah tom the imposter's definately a jet fan, that wasnt an easy catch, i hear a lot of guy's say he dropped it, that was no drop, he some how got his hands twisted, im not sure, the defender was draped all over him, we didnt lose the game because of that, if i had to point out the most obvious reason, it would be clock management on the last drive!! |
|||
You're right. It reminds me of the first game marino played. It was a loss to buffalo and even though we lost, dan threw for 300 yards and you could tell we had a great QB. I would also like to see Hillard run behind that line since he's 240. |
||||
Yeah, the clock management was very bad, but sparano is learning, just like everyone else. Miami is on the way up. Go fins! |

i agree we look very stout in the running game and thats where you control the clock and win games! it seem's we went from a fast starting team in years past to a slow starting team presently, hopefully we can turn it around in san diego!! |
|||
|
And I will be watching Gabril Wilson to see how
he covers receivers in the san diego game. Supposedly that why he left the raiders, too many big plays. If wilson cannot cut it, Miami should start clemons. He played very well in training camp. |

While most of what you say is true, the game wasn't lost because of poor clock management. As a matter of fact, the only reason the game was even close was because of outstanding clock management by the Dolphins. Any team that holds the ball for more than 3/4ths of the game should (and normally does) win. The Colts had the ball for only 14:53, the lowest time of possession for a winning team in the NFL since 1977. They should have lost. Miami had 50+ more plays than the Colts, and yet scored 4 less points. That points to play selection. The Colts ran 35 plays for 356 yards, and scored 27 points. That points to either a great offense, poor defense, or some combination of the two. Miami didn't lose that game because of that last drive. They lost because their offense is a slow, grind-it-out offense that requires lots of time and plays to score, and the Colt's offense is a quick-strike, one-play offense. The Colts don't need 8 minutes to score a TD. They scored two in less than 50 seconds COMBINED. Miami needs to develope a deep threat. Ted Ginn is not it. Even at tOSU he wasn't. He was the fastest guy on the field, and was used as a runner in triple options, end-arounds, and on kickoff and punt returns. Rarely did they throw deep to him. He is not a natural receiver. I know most Phins fans already know this, but the other piece to this puzzle is Pennington. He needs to start throwing the ball down the field, regardless of the quality of his receivers. You can't beat the better teams in the NFL throwing 2-5 yard passes, and the receivers you do have won't get a feel for Pennington's mid-to-deep passes if he doesn't throw them. If he can't throw those balls, then that's another issue. Phins fans can be proud of the Miami's efforts in their close loss to the Colts, but know this. They will not beat any team with good-to-great wideouts until they develope some of their own. They need to be able to match teams score-for-score. This 3-yards-in-a-cloud-of-dust offense isn't winning football. Not even when it's called "The Wldcat". |
|||
I agree Ted Ginn is not a deep threat. I expect Miami next year to draft a #1 WR. That would enable ginn to be moved to #2 or to the slot. Believe or not a "Grind it out" offense does win football games, but you still have to stop the other team, which the Miami defense did not do. Miami still had problems pushing the ball into the end zone, and that points to a lack of a red zone target. It was hoped patrick turner could be that red zone threat, but has not shown much to date. I am also hoping Miami will start Chad henne, who has a much better arm than Pennington. Also remember that Parcells and company have a 2 -3 year plan for rebuilding the dolphins and this is only the second year. |
||||
Clemons is indeed real fast. I think he runs a 4.4 or 4.5 40 yard dash. If clemons starts, I will be in hog heaven. Miami will have a young secondary that should be there for years to come. |

posted by TMD “Look! Up in the sky!” reply; i guess you could say running the ball and controlling the time of pos is form of clock management, however when you have 3:11 left with 2 to's and you run out of time that is very poor clock management! to blow a t.o. to avoid a delay of game while in the hurryup is crazy! even the announcer's said the colt's scored too early!!! the colts d wasnt stopping miami, miami stopped miami!!!! the best team didnt win that game, just the smartest team!!!!! |
