I always find it amazing how people who sit behind a desk everyday, and probably have never played 1 game of football in thier life,(except when he tried out for the 7th grade team, and didn't make the list, because he got ran over), can sit there are make what they think is a Perfect Plan for a winning season.

The vikings could sure use that homefield advantage. I'm rooting for everyone playing the saints.

"Stay healthy, rest the key starters where possible, and add new wrinkles to the offense to keep defenses guessing..."

I'm surprised you're not agreeing with everything this writer said, considering it seems to mirror all the suggestions fans have been posting on this board...

Jensen, you've got a midget football mind. The worst possible thing the Vikings offense could do is start running the pathetic wild cat.

What's with the personal attacks? Are we twelve, seriously. How about disagree with his point and give a reason why, is that so hard? Or is it that you just don't have any so you divert attention away from yourself? Wildcat would be a good idea, it would give a wrinkle in our offense for other defenses to at least gameplan for. Plus, if you have chester taylor taking the snap he has proving he can throw the ball. Mix it up, make it interesting, it still is working for the Dolphins and teams know they are doing it.
Miami has ran about 48 Wildcat plays in five games and average 6.6 yards per play. They average 4.7 yards a play out of their base offense. So you tell me if it's not worth trying.

It's not a bad idea too use the wildcat occasionally too git Harvin the ball and make offense less predictable. I agree with everything the writer said I would include dumping the cover 2 and moving the safety's closer too the line.

Bad idea on dumping the cover 2.
The safeties have been the primary issue at missing tackles and I fear this would create many big plays against our defense.

I say continue to pressure the qb with blitz packages whenwe get ahead and let the chips fall where they may.

Is it possible to throw in different defensive schemes though once in awhile, it seems like the cover 2 does give up huge chunks of yards at times, especially when we play it soft with the safeties in the end zone stands with the fans.

Not to mention all the missed tackling which doesn't help the cover 2 scheme, tackling is a prerequisite to this scheme.

The Wildcat idea should have died the minute Favre signed on. Taking the ball out of Favre's hands may seem tricky, but would be preferred if I was the defense playing against Favre & Peterson.

I love Harvin, but I do not think he is a better RB than Peterson or QB than Favre, so direct snaps to him just don't do it for me. Plays and schemes only keep a defense off balance if they are successful, which the Wildcat has been only mildly decent for the Vikes. Defenses aren't going to overly worry about it when our normal package is much more powerful.

If we had no decent QB and Ronnie Brown, then I'm for it. Otherwise find another form of Trickery if you want to keep the defense off balance.

It appears to me the cover 2 is failing when we gain sizeable leads and stop blitzing the qb.

Rewatch last weeks 3rd and 4th quarters.
we blitzed once in the 3rd quarter and the packers made their run.
In the 4th quarter we started to blitz again and Rogers was making bad decisions and his timimng was off.

I dont know that there is a good scheme with our questionable secondary but when we blitz we give ourselves a chance.

The WILD CAT OFFENSE is used by teams who cannot move the ball without using some form of trickery. Furthermore,if not well practiced, it can back-fire on a team. ONLY LOSERS NEED USE THE WILDCAT.

Karl Paymah, Tyrell Johnson and Madieu Williams NEED TO PUT ON SOME BOXING GLOVES AND PRACTICE TACKLING!! A LOT!!! THAT IS THE AREA OF IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENT THAT WE NEED. THE COVER TWO NEED REMAIN THE SAME. THE WILDCAT IS FOR LOSERS. WE TAKE THE BALL UP AND DOWN THE FIELD AT WILL, WHY TRY TRICKERY WHEN WE BEAT EM HEAD ON??? MAKE THE OTHER TEAM TRY TO STOP US....THEY CAN'T!!! SKOL VIKINGS GOING TO MIAMI!!!!

if it ain't broke don't fix it. so far, we have been winning ( at times barely ); doing what we have been doing. could it use some improvement...definitely...act ually tweaking would be a better description. tackling is a major concern, our corners need to be a little more aggressive ( to compensate for their smaller size)...not giving them a free pass off the line would help. the wildcat, as sixties said, works for teams that cannot run or throw the ball...i don't see us having that problem. if anything, as far as trickery goes...a flea flicker occasionally might work, play action in the redzone works for us as well. lastly, when the game is on the line, KLINK should let BF decide: after all, isn't that why he was brought here?...crap the man has seen and done just about everything. UNLEASH THE DOGS OF WAR...GO VIKES!!!

Agree with using a lot of blitz packages thru-out the game, also think putting Percy in at QB once in a while to run the Cat is a good idea, not to often but used at the right times it can keep defenses off balance, remember Percy was also a rb in college.

Stop with all the wildcat talk! Gimics is all the wildcat offense is and ever will be. You can live on it. Go to the movies!

The Vikings need to design better run plays to get AP in space more. Run play calling needs a lot of work but the wildcat offense is for desperate teams!

Agree with "Wildcat is Dead". A sign of a good Offensive Cord. is a succession of plays executed to set up bigger plays later in the game. Where are the fake end a rounds or the flea flicker? Have we even had 1 reverse yet this year? Double move passing plays, yes. Fake screens, yes. Deliberate look offs by Brett, yes. But at least set up plays to make the defense second guess themselves more. If you're a smart Off Cord, show us. Impress us. You have 2 weeks to dazzle all the Vikings fans with your offensive attack prowess.

The safeties are broke: Fix them. Every championship caliber team has top safeties. No brainer, here. Our corners could use just a little help. Safeties first;-)
