Just goes to show you. More corn, less chili.
Ethanol is the main reason for high food
prices.
It all comes down to oil.
DRILL!DRILL!DRILL! our own oil!!!

OOOEEE! Love that NM chili, can't wait to get back to NM, people in FL don't know what hot chili is. Has anyone seen the movie "Wild Hogs", love that movie by the way, the Madrid chili contest made my mouth water.

Yeah they don't know what chili is either here in Dallas area. It's terrible Tex Mex. I have my freezer stocked with my Hatch Chili though. First time I ordered enchiladas here in Dallas area I was waiting for them to ask me green or red? Well they didn't and brought me something that looked like sour cream and chili mixed together. Gosh it was horrible!

My first experience with Mexican food came in El Paso, and I liked it. When I returned from Europe and ended up in Alamogordo, I learned to like it even more, becoming a "regular" at either Si Senor or Margo's. My late wife enjoyed the food as well and we spent many hours with friends over smothered burritos, chili rellenos and combination plates.
Since moving to California, I can tell you that there are differing views on good Mexican food. What happens to the menu here would leave you cold on the idea of Mexican food. That is why, on any trip that I can make to the area, the only real spot to eat is one of my two former hangouts. My friends know that I can be found there and we all share a good time and a great meal.
I wish the chili growers of the Rio Grande basin the best on their crops. We need all the good New Mexico Chili we can get, fresh or canned.

Next time you come down, try Casa de Suenos in Tularosa. MUCH BETTER THAN SI SENOR OR MARGO'S BY FAR!

Does anyone know how long you can keep your chilis in the freezer?

I have some chilis I brough back with me from Alamo in 2004 and have been in the deepfreeze since then....

I think I heard that they get hotter the longer they are stored....

Any thoughts???

I'd eat at Margo's or Si Senor's before Casa de Suenos, but I think Si Senor's is best.

Sorry, haven't eaten at Margos since the E-coli breakout there a few years back. Also, their food was always bland and never hot.

I agree with Pink. Margo's is bland as way over-rated. I'm voting for Casa de Suenos ....

Gee you all just had to start this thread again? lol I can literally smell the chili roasting. Other than the terrific smell, the best thing about the chili roasting is that fall is close. This 107 temps lately are driving me crazy here in Tx. Have anyone ever tried the green chili stew at Juan's Cactus Cafe? Yes I know it is a small place in the mall but it is really good.

Roberto's has the best red--smoky, and a little bitter.

I'm going to vote Si Senor's. That is some of the best food omgsh. Margo's is bland and not very seasoned, and the same with Juan's in the mall, if you load with enough of their green chili its good though :)

The patio is outside. I doubt any rats were getting INSIDE the building unlike Arby's.

Try Weck's in Lewisville. If you love Hatch Chile,
Weck's will fill the bill.

Actually I have eaten at Weck's several times. Still not the same, very mild green chili. I like the hot and spicy stuff, lol. Weck's is only about a 5 min drive from my house. But thanks for the tip.
