Bacteria Threatens Potato Chips
A disease spreading through potato crops is causing potato chips to develop zebralike stripes when cooked.

Is a specific potato at higher risk or does this pose a threat to all potato plants?

Not the potato chips!

It's too bad the striping is because of a disease. I would totally buy zebra-striped potato chips!

Potato chips aren't the only snack food in jeopardy:

It's about time something bad happened with potato chips. They're just not that good. I don't know what all the fuss is about. Even tostitos are far superior to standard potato chips. But obviously, nothing beats a delicious bag of pretzels. I'm sorry Sharon, but it had to be said.

Does this affect soy chips?

I hope this disease does not impact popcorn. Potato chips and popcorn are my kids' principal food groups. Take them both away and I don't know how they'd survive.

I wonder how off the "off-taste" can be. I would like to try one.

Yeah - can't they just season the chips to counter the "off" taste.
What about french fries? |
